How accurate is the speed test at vodacom
I hooked up a new billion router to my ps3 and did a speed test using the ps3 browser.
To my surprise I got a speed of about 5300 kbps.(happened only once)
I always thought 3.6 was still max in this country ??

flapping between HSDAP/GPRS and nothing........sounds familiar. I work in Joburg, live about 2kms from that hotel. line odf sight to Vodaworld.
This morning, in my office in Corlett Drive, I get
from Vodacom test; 1306 and 1121 down, 10 mins apart
317 and 324 up
from Speedtest.net 1120 and 227 down
227 and 336 up
151 aand 158 ms

The service is good, but why does Murphy always give me the GPRS when I'm in a hurry. Or showing somebody something? 3g only does help, but not always

Anyway, the big problem is my 1.99 gb use last month. Yes, I don't do big downloads. No, its not checking for updates. Yes, the modem is disconn, the pc usually off when i"m not at it. Don't know how I'm gonna prove anything.
Or how my daughter came back from the DRC to find R2500 data charges when her pc was actually locked away

I haven't exceeded 384kbps on the upload so far. Are we supposed to request a profile change for HSUPA? (I'm on the 1.8 profile for downloads.)

You have to request the 3.6 service and pay an extra R49 per month.
