set this to 1, and you should find a new tab appear on your wireless utilty applet (assuming you arent using microsoft zeroconf) calles "access point" where you can enter the ssid etc that you want your fake accesspoint to be, and it does work
i am vague on purpose, as the last time i did this was very long ago, but it was true for belkin cards and any cards using a broadcom chipset.
