I would like to be charged for time spent on DSTV and not pay for the times not spent on DSTV. Alternatively I would like to subscribe to certain amount of channels, say 20 or so, and only pay for that.

But then I also want World Peace and cheaper fuel. Chances of getting both of these are greater.

It doesn't even provide SS1 or even SS2. Rather go for the whole package with all the sporting action this year!

I worked out that I am paying R416.75 pm for DSTV, I watched 2 movies last month (let's say 2hrs long) which means I was paying around R208 per movie?

DSTV compact is not targeted at the part of the population that would be interested in the sporting action this year.. hence the soccer channel

My video store has all the latest DVD's for 8bucks, yea you heard me 8 bucks. That works out to about R250 per month for a movie every night. Yea you still got to go pick them up and drop them off which is a bit of a pain....

We downgraded to compact a while ago and don't miss the other channels at all. /me is not into sport! And with all the repeats on dstv its really not worth it to me...

Yep with my mvix/usenet combo i don't need mnet.Compact's not good but currently it works for me.At the end of every 2nd month or so dstv open the gates to all compact users for 2-3 days. And guess what, i mostly end up watching non of the "premium" channels. With the addition of National Geographic to Dstv Compact it makes it more worthwile for me.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. If you are not into sports, DSTV offers little.

have recently gotten dstv compact as well. i'm not quite the target market, but for somebody who has managed to veg in front of the tv very successfully with only the sabc and etv, 23 new channels opens up a lot of new potential for doing nothing...

DStv is till miles better than anything SABC or etv can dish up. Had DStv for nearly 10years now, and while some of the stuff is v repetitive, there's usually something new and interesting to watch somewhere.... or you could just stare blankly at the tv like i do alot of the time..
