Default What is going on with international sites lately ?

Tonight it stumbles intermittantly..............Is the pipe clogging up as predicted 3 years ago ?

I begin to think so, also:

1-Dial-up began to choke when ADSL was introduced and took off.

2-Now 384 are beginning to choke since 4Gb was introduced...

So what am I paying for ?

My IS account is ok except for latency, it'll be noticeably delayed in loading a site but after that initial latency it loads better.

My line is also hiccuping, but problems are so common with SA's DSL that it might not be a permanent thing.

    Angry slow ADSL

I've just posted something about my Adsl speed as well.

I think it's related. Since December last year the ADSL service has gone backwards when it comes to speed. When I do a test I get something like 86kbps on average. How sad is that, less than 128k ISDN.

It's month end and the time for Telkom to have various network problems, as they regularly do at month end
You only get one chance to piss off a client. After that they are an ex client ...

What network are you on?? It loads in a couple of seconds for me, and I am downloading!

If there was no cap or the caps were very high we wouldn't have this end of month problem.
The overall usage would most likely be higher but we wouldn't all be trying to finish our caps off on the last couple of days of the month causing network congestion. The network load would be more or less constant throughout the month.

I've noticed that with my 30GB IS local-only account I don't bother about trying to use it all up because it's not expensive and if I use half of it I consider it good value for money.
This low capping nonsense on SAIX based accounts actually creates an "I must get everything I can out of it" type mindset.

Right now I can't access anything international at all. Local sites are fast, speed test on SGS gives me 318.9 kbps, but any international site eithers timesout or only half loads.

I understand that the end of the month rush to download can cause some network problems... but if it only takes +- 100 000 (assuming that 50% of ADSL users are downloading right now) downloading people to cause this much trouble, then SA doesn't have much capacity for broadband growth.

I think there is something wrong. I can hardly access any international sites and when I can, it's an up and down affair.
