Edited: summary of what happened - I asked for my SMTP servers to be unblocked and to be notified when that had been done, after a week nothing had happened, today I contacted the helpdesk and posted a thread complaining in the hopes that it would spur some action.
Once again the helpdesk was very efficient and helpful. Lebohang replied within 20 minutes letting me know that the appropriate servers were unblocked.
So a "pathetic" service turned around into "excellent" service, I am very pleased!
