    Angry Telkom And This Goverment

Telkom and this "GOVERMENT" ARE WORKING HAND IN AND "LIKE A BUNCH OF MOFFIES" are they are up each other so dam far, they just can not let go, and they will not allow others to get anything that they want. All they think of is their own pockets and themself's. Not only with internet services, but fuel, consumer products etc, etc. This "GOVERMENT" such and should be replaced with a "GOVERMENT" that has its eyes on the consumers and not putting the money that they steal from " THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY". Petrol cost $1.08 in NZ. Cruid oil has stayed in the $56.00- $68.00 for the passed 6 months. Now they are stealing an extra .70cent a liter. Where the hell is this "GOVERMENT" get there figures from?????? Someone help them, as they do not get grade 1 at school in "MATHS"

I would have to disagree with that...

The most talked about couple would be Ivy and Paris

    Exclamation Government owns Telkom

    Hiya Teddybeartwo,

    Welcome to MyADSL.

Government owns 38.10% of Telkom and The Public Investment Commissioner owns 16.20% of Telkom.
The Public Investment Commissioner's largest client is the Government Employee Pension Fund (GEPF) at 92.3% plus other Government Departments like the Unemployment Insurance Fund and the Compensation Commissioner's Pension Fund. Click on link.

    Government's % Holding in Telkom:
Basically you can say Government is the Holding Company of Telkom with 54.30% (38.10% + 16.2%) of the listed shares.
If that huge Shareholding % catches your eye, one can go further and ask what this 54.30% holding in Telkom is worth?

    What that % is worth:
Taking the Closing Price of Telkom (TKG) Shares on Thursday the 5th of April 2007 at R171.00 per share multiplied by the number of shares in issue at 533,125,412 x 54.30% you come up with the mammoth figure of R49,502,293,880.40
Government's Shareholding in Telkom is worth R49.5Billion.

Annual Dividend to Government from Telkom:
Telkom's Dividend Yield is 2.92% per annum.
    171x2.92%x(533,125,412x54.30%)=R5x289,487,098.72=R 1,447,435,493.60 per annum.
    R1.45Billion in dividends per annum.

Quite a few numbers there holding the country back in favour of Government Pension Funds and Dividend Streams IMHO.
You can take Telkom out of the Post Office but you can't take the Post Office out of Telkom.

    Default VAT and Company Tax

I forgot to add VAT and Company Tax to that whole picture.

Not caring to look now at Financial Statements on a weekend.
Calculate the VAT from Telkom's turnover, plus Company Tax and add that to those figures above.

Why should Government do anything? The South African Cash Cow moet net K@K en Betaal.
    Mind boggling stuff.
