Thread: PC Freezes with MyWireless USB drivers.

  1. #1

Default PC Freezes with MyWireless USB drivers.

Can anyone using the NoWire desktop modem do me a favour please. Go to your modem and double click on it. (In "Network Connections") You should no be in the Sentech Status menu. Click on "details" and see whether your PPP Multilink Framing is "on" or "off".

I am having trouble with using any P2P program as well as download managers in that whan I'm using them my PC freezes. Although my event viewer does not show any error when it happens there are numerous events and warnings that my TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.

To the xperts - could this be the problem?

If you have a Hyperthreading, or dual core CPU and using the USB modem then that is your problem.

The USB device drivers are not multiprocessor safe. You will have to either turn off hyperthreading, or shoot one of the dual-core's in the head -- or use an Ethernet cable with the modem.

    Thanks TheRoDent,

Yip, is a dual core pc. So now to plan b. Connect modem to PC2 and network from there. Done a load of research on the net, all in vain. One post on this forum, and whala. Should have known......

    thanks again.

    Default Thanks mate!!!

TheRoDent, thanks a million mate, I have finally, (I am 95% sure), resolved my freezing pc with your advice. I got myself a ethernet cable from NoWire, installed my modem as a PPPoE device, and whala, sorted.
Have been running Utorrent on my pc for the last three days nonstop and not a hint of a freeze. (except my toes while I write this msg)
    Thanks and kudos

Default Dual core freeze with MyWireless

I had a problem with my dual core PC freezing at weird times, especially when usuing software like uTorrent or Azureus. I am using XP on that particular PC, and discovered that if I changed to the Vista drivers for the MyWireless modem the PC worked 100% - no more freezing - and has now worked fine for the last 4 months without another freeze.

I cannot remember for the life of me where I got the Vista drivers, but I have them in the original ZIP file if anyone needs them. Unfortunately I have no idea (duh ) how to make them available here. if anyone can tell me how, I will do it with pleasure. Maybe if one of the administrators here could do it, I'll happily e-mail them the drivers.

Hang on a moment, I am also having freezing issues with my new dual core freezing when online (and at inopportune times too), I am interested in this because maybe its the same issue I am having. I also have a usb modem.

OK.. found the drivers on another vista vs Sentech thread and have installed them. Hold thumbs for me. Here I was all ready to buy another mobo and throw the puter at the dealer and maybe the problem is not with the mobo but sentechs drivers!! If this solves the problem I will ecstatic. If not I am going to have to go back to the drawing board!

Day 2.... puter has been running without any freezes.... yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The vista drivers supposedly dont have the multithreading issue, so thats one fix.

Other fix is to use the Ethernet cable, or a single core pc somewhere as a gateway,.

The Vista drivers worked like a charm, if I had suspected the crummy drivers I would have had this sorted ages ago. I have a USB modem so the ethernet cable wasnt an option. Its worth remembering for the future and maybe we need to sticky this solution if ever sentech gets another customer. I doubt if they would have been able to help.
