Thread: DSTV Marriage with antenuptial?

  1. #1

    Default DSTV Marriage with antenuptial?

    Just wondering..

In a holiday-home where guests would previously bring their own DSTV-card, to insert into the accommodation's DSTV hardware, would that still work now-a-days?

I don't know cause I canceled Nullti-choice 2 years ago, but now I am building a bushlodge and I am wondering if I should bother screwing on a Dish and parking my decoder there?

I guess it might not work. Maybe you should contact multichoice and get a definitive answer?

they have a sms service for exactly that purpose. When you get to your holiday home insert your smartcard sms the smartcard number to dstv and within 30 mins or so the marriage is done. The same is done when you get home.

Good news but what a schlep. Is this a premium rated sms too?

Isnt that great of them - charging you just a little bit more so you can use your hardware the way you like.

I'm just as happy to be seeing competition on the horizon for them as I am for telkom.

it looks more than more likely that the competition will be Telkom.

They stopped that as the smartcard is now linked to a spesific decoder but you can request additional cards from Multichoice for your holiday home.

SMS your smart card number to 32443. A background process takes care of the marriage. I understand the marriage should take place within an hour.

    Thanks guys!

Obviously I do not want to subscribe at like R5000 a year for the odd occasion a guest might switch on the TV..

So the guest would insert his own smartcard into my decoder and then SMS his cardnumber to 32443, after which the reception (decoding) should start within an hour?

Okay, that's great. It looks like I am going to screw a dish to a wall soon :-)

they have annoying ads running about the sms service too so most of your customers should be aware of the process.
