Hi all,

I have the following problem and cant get vodacom to understand this.

When I first got my HUAWEI modem on contract it worked fine.
Now when I plug it in it executes the software and request my sim pin. So fine I type in my pin. The light on the modem is double flashing. It then searches for a network and finds Vodacom-SA 3g and the light then stops flashing and stays on for a while and then VMC lite shuts down and the modem dissapears from MY COMPUTER. After a while it repeats the process.

I took it to VODACOM Customer care and they tested it and it did the same at first. Then they put in a different sim in my modem and it worked fine and then they put my sim in a different modem and it worked. they they put my sim in my modem and it didn't work at first but then worked.

What do i do???
VERY FRUSTRATED NOW

Put the SIM card into a phone, and delete the SMSes and MMSes on the SIM card, then put the SIM card back into the Huawei E220 modem.

If that works, search through Csnoopy's recent posts in this forum for instructions on using Huawei's generic software, HMC instead of VMC-Lite.

PS: Welcome to MyBroadband :).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have deleted everything off the sim.
Still not working

I can't find the post you mention by cnsnoopy

The SMS|MMS problem is known to happen with VMC version 9.1, it was a long shot [on my part] thinking the same problem might be happening in the new VMC-Lite, it would be better to narrow down the possible cause of the VMC-Lite problem before trying HMC - if you have malware on your PC or DVD software installed, these could be the cause of the problems you're experiencing with VMC-Lite.

I am a bit illiterate on computer terms. So what is malware? and what should I remove from my computer that could cause this problem?

I have winxp pro sp2

Go to a PC shop and buy yourself Bitdefender V10 Antivirus plus, Install it and have it scan your PC. Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I have taken the modem to Vodacom and they say it not working so now I am waiting for a swop which takes 48 hours. It apparantly does not find a signal.

Also noticed that there were about 8 people before me with problems with the same modem. I questioned the technical guy there and he said that it not a very common problem.
