What I had was an 8.1MB MPEG1 file which I ran through Stuffit Expander.
Now I have a binary file - 8.2MB. Have I just wasted about 20 minutes? Will I have to download the update once again, after I have signed up with Vodacom and DO have a modem hooked up to my MacBook?
I am noy sure if this file that I have indicated here is for MAC. As far as I know it is for Windows 2000, XP & Vista. I am using it on a HP Pavilion Notebook and it work perfectly. The Mobile_Connect that is included in the zip file let you burn a start-up disk. which you can use to burn a CD and if you insert it, it will automatically install the software for the modem from CD.

I had a look on Huawei site and can't find any software for MAC.

    Hi Andre1,

just for future reference, when I'm updating the modem's flash, is it OK to leave the sim card in, or should I remove it before flashing?

Thanks again for all the help

I don't think either way would make any difference, but I have only done mine with the sim in

After flashing the e220 can you explore the e220 modem. Have a look in the drivers folder it should have a folder for mac I think?

So far I have left my sim card in a few time and it does install without any problems. When you start to install, a window will appear saying that you must remove the sim. If you feel to be on the save side, remove the sim at this stage and install the new software. I do not know if it will damage the sim card, but rather remove the sim card. I have found that either way it does work. But rather be safe than sorry.

PS: Installing HMP using the 'force update' option should not change the firmware of an E220 modem, instead it would only change the iso image on the E220's internal flash drive, firmware is embedded deeper within the device.
The last time I flashed mine with HMP without the force update option ticked and the software on the flash drive was still changed from HMC to HMP

    dear all,
i've tried to download the software update of E220 USB Modem using the posted link but failed.
i've been trying it for the past whole week and still no change, simply it stops after downloading few bytes.
i wonder if it is possible to mail me the software.
i've updated my E220 & now it is looked to Vodafon.

thanks & awaiting your kind feed back.

Try using a Download Manager with the Resume function. Maybe that'll help?
