Question Quick question about SA Postal System...

Hi, I just have a quick question for everyone...

Let's say I were to mail a letter to:

    5712
    Stellenbosch
    7599
    South Africa

Taking in mind that 7599 is the postcode for the PO.Boxes in Stellenbosch.

Would that letter reach PO BOX 5712 without me explicitly stating PO BOX 5712 on the letter?

It should do if the postal code is right but I'm sure it simplifies things if you dont forget to put it on.

I guess it does, but I want to forget to put the PO BOX part on there on purpose.

Some (International) website wants to send me a letter. It's important that I get it. But they don't send stuff to PO Boxes. The problem being that we just don't get any post from about +-20 Dec - 5 January. The post just never reaches us/get lost somewhere.

I feel that there is a better chance that the letter could reach my PO BOX than my home.

Just use "Posbus Str 5712" -they will not figure out the Afrikaans.

To answer your question, SAPO employees are renowned for being dyslexic, so there is a good chance that no matter what you do or do not put on the envelope, your letter is sure to end up somewhere other than where you intended, but omitting the "PO BOX" prefix is likely to cause a mental meltdown at Poison Ivy's pet company.

Most postage in RSA has to be certified by a PAMMs system to ensure postal integrity. Based on that address the mail would be classified as undeliverable and returned to the sender, thats if you remebered to place your return address on the envelope
