Thread: HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

    HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

I know this is a bit early, but does anyone have any news about this device?

I can't get any reviews even though it's already out in some places, like Germany.
I was going to go for the HTC Wizard AKA iMate KJam but the device suffers from a slow cpu and whereas the TyTN has 3G and Edge in one device, the Wizard only has Edge.
It makes a huge difference to someone who lives in a place that Telkom sees as not viable for DSL and MTN has not implimented 3G.

Any MTN reps that can shed some light (on news of the divice)?
I don't mind spending the money cause going back to a Symbian device would be suicide (no offence to those using one).

3G is fine but what about Edge. HTC's TyTN has EDGE and 3G in one device.
Is iMate gonna supply a watered down version?

Yes, Yes. It's all probably to soon to ask, but I'm excited because it will not be long before everyone else gets the same features in their cellies.

    So what's with the cpu's.
    300mHz or 400 mHz

Rumors are that the sp's will "underclock" the device to extend battery life?
Does that mean that iMate will do the same thing for MTN?
(Stupid question right, cause were gonna push it back up to 400)

Thanks guys for all the info.

Now if some brave soul can actually do some snooping for us and get an approximate date of the African / South african launch of this baby.
(Please don't say the end of the year. It's just torture to wait so long.)

    Cheers.

So looking at the $900 pricetag , i assume it will retail in ZA for:

    (900*7) * 1.3 = R8200 ???

[30% added on top based on taxes and other rip off import costs we get in South Africa]

I can't wait for the Tytn to become available so I can get rid of my Nokia 9500.

How bad would it really be to import the phone directly from overseas? Besides the phone being a grey import and possible warranty void? Cost would be round R6500 I reckon?

I just called Leaf and they receiving their test unit of the JasJam in a week and it should be available in 2 months. The estimated cost price would be round R8000.
I'm not sure I can wait that long
