Check on the USB capabilities as well. Some may offer only USB picture and not USB Movie. Also check if they are 50Hz or 100Hz. If possible go for 100Hz as picture quality is better. IMO the Samsung's look way nicer than the Sony.

If brand name is important to you, get the Sony, if a little bit of a brand name is important with slightly better value get the Samsung. Or if brand name is not important at all, get a Sinotech for best value

With LCD's/Plasma's, I've noticed that people tend to think that the lesser known brands are pure crap. So if you care about what other people think, get a Sony.

I'm contemplating getting myself a second Sinotech, the 47" Full HD beast... I find 42" is a BIT small for my lounge.

Its strange how small 42" TV's seem now, even my 50" is seeming small now......need to win that damn powerball crap so I can buy the 123" Panasonic..

For the price of the 123" I would rather build a cinema room with a good projector... don't you think?

...and therefore you could also say Sony cameras, because Canon use Sony sensors.
