Default Where to do IT Qualifications?

Hi all, I'm looking to do my A+, N+ and Security+ qualifications, but not sure how to go about it. I was told that New Horizons was quite good, but looking at other threads I'm not too sure about it anymore. I was offered a MCSA Certification by New Horizons for just under R8000, excluding exams. I was wondering, if I could get my hands on A+, N+ and Security+ books and just self study, could I just write exams? Or would I have to do the certification through a place like New Horizons. And if it is possible to just write the exams, where can I find out where to do it?

Any input would be really appreciated! Just looking for a cheaper way to get the qualifications.

P.S Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, not sure where to post it

Where do you live?

I know this great place in Kazakstan if you are in the area.

you can do the course yourself, off course you will need to buy the correct books for the course you want to do, and when you are ready you can book for the test anywhere that is accredited to to the tests.

Thats great! Thanks! So I can just look at the Prometric website to find the nearest test center?

Correct.

Order the books you need from kalahari.net (or anywhere else), study at home and just go do the exams at the prometric certified exam places.

I normally check the subjects I have to do for my qualification, then do a search on Amazon.com .e.g. 70-640 (Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory) and read the customer reviews.....they normally tell you if they passed the exam with the book you want to buy.

I'm biased towards Microsoft Press books, cos you get a voucher (10% discount) included, for when you book at the Prometric centre + evaluation software included. Saves you the hassle of having to download MS Server 2008.
