I just don't find any reason to despair. Before 1994 and until today the wealth of me and those around me has grown massively. I see no changes in my life being in any more danger or any infringments on my freedom at all. None. What i all the hubbub about ...that's my question !

I'm sure the Oppenheimer's and the Rupert's also don't feel much pressure on their freedoms or wealth either.

Essentially, if you are an adult that does not have to deal with the toss of a daily salary job that involves moving out of your secure cage of a home, then you are probably experiencing the same serenity that bored, fat, liberal, idealistic American girls experience when they are served hamburgers by black women in Stellenbosch. The "Oh I am so privileged and want to save all the hungry people because it is my burden to bear for being rich and white." Yawn.

You have obviously never been a victim of a violent crime and, because of this, you believe the chances of that happening are zero. That smacks of "invincibility" often experienced by people in their student years.

Until you can put something solid behind what you say, you will not be considered anything more than a troll with too much time on his hands. Your blind faith in numbers provided by the lowest bidder is also disturbing. I guess you don't understand the concept of corruption?

Your perfect idealistic world that is contained inside a reinforced tungsten bubble is enviable, I admit. But I no longer have the ignorance and naivety required to maintain such a view.

Thats true. I live right next to a nice big park and dare not walk through it. Even the university nearby(Wits)has posted fliers warning people to not walk through the park but rather around it. Sound very safe to me

I don't stay awake at night worrying about dying in a car crash with far higher likelyhood than murder. And if I lived in the Uk I would have a better chance of committing suicide than being being murdered if I lived in South Africa So why do you think the 12 in 100 000 chance of being murdered keeps me up at night ? If you lived in washington dc it would be 38 per 100 000 for example. Get over it you drama queen !

Crime, at the levels found in SA, is not common anywhere else outside of war zones. Like I said, a reality check will bring you down to earth very quickly.

Yes...but the question is...do you live in a township ?Are you black ? Do you go to a shebeen and hang around people who would stab you and insult them when drunk ?

If not then it's not likely to affect you. So why the drama ? Are yoy a philanthropist earnistly concerned with the lives of the poor and violent ? If not then what is your agenda ?
