    Telkom cancellation nightmare

I had the same problem. I cancelled my account with Telkom. They then invoiced me for double what I owed - charging me for services that I had not used. I also wasted many 'phone calls and e-mails. In the end they got nothing.

This is how Eskom's load-shedding takes down mobile networks

The article is making the point that their 'solution' of mass produced batteries and generation sets is not working - because it isn't designed to work with such long outages so close together. I've suggested a solution that would address this. Obviously, if there weren't the long, repeated...

This is how Eskom's load-shedding takes down mobile networks

Actually, it can be. You can make your own rig. You just need a weight and pulley system. You can raise the weight, using the motor and light gearing so it raises in a few minutes. Then, on power failure, you can allow the weight to lower, slowly, through the higher geared pulleys, running the...

This is how Eskom's load-shedding takes down mobile networks

The cell phone providers ought to move to battery alternatives - flywheels are much quicker to speed up and don't suffer from degradation from overuse, for example. Even gravity based systems can work better, and longer, than batteries. They also don't rely on rare elements like Lithium.

Afrihost got mybroadband to delete messages reporting their bad service

It may interest those who have been following the problems with RAIN and Afrihost that I have reported today, to know that Afrihost has got mybroaband to delete the messages. They would rather censor messages than fix the problem! Not very good for customers.

Where are the discounts because of Seacom?

Last year my ISP (XDSL) promised that there would be price reductions. Passed on because of the huge discounts from using Seacom. Now they're busy trying to get out of their promise, claiming that it was an employee mistake to commit to this, or something. What is the general picture? I...
