Why the surprise? Telkom have removed fixed line from my area some three years after laying a new 9km long copper cable to replace the faulty old one - we have a choice - Telkom LTE or nothing.... That's why the private "dish" companies are thriving!

What about people, like my elderly father, who does not have internet, does not have online access and does not have a smart phone? there must be a huge number of "un-connected" people who can only go into a Telkom store???

Forget it! Telkom can't give me better than 1.4 mBs on a good day and an average of 0.9 mBs... I've switched to one of the dish system providers and get 6mBs and 75GB for R 150 a month less! So I don't have a landline? Yes, I use it maybe twice a month...
