you can make ringtones of your songs easily. just export less than 30 secs of a song in itunes and then rename it as .m4r

I had the same problem with the contacts list. I had over 3500 contacts in it. it used to be really slow till i upgraded to 2.1. now it comes up instantly.

Has anyone found that installing certain apps kills the battery life?. I tried a few apps that are pretty useless and only really an interest install and my battery life has taken a serious dive. even though nothing is running you can almost see the power going down. super irritating!!

no idea, but prob just a login problem with the store. I find it works much better if you are in a wifi zone. then its fast. If you are using 3g then there are lots of things that can cause it to fail. mainly signal.

i have the same problem evey now and again. do you have 2 itune accounts? cause i found that it sets the iphone up with the account you used last. so if you have a US and a SA account the one you are logged in as when you sync is sent accross. Then you can only update the apps from that...

The iphone 3g does have maps using gps and wps. It just has a very basic route generation and navigation system. I am sure over time google will improve that though. The data for most of SA is not up to scratch yet, but it does have some cool functions. like tel no and stuff. As far as the...

oh, and the 3g network is crap. the phone is constantly switching from edge to 3g. the only place you get full 3g bars is arround the center of durban. They seems to have real problems with valleys. no 3g signals at all in them. Also upgrade to firmware to 2.1 asap, its alot faster....

For the record, i have purchased an iphone 3g from rendier and am totally happy. Got a yessim from a dealer in durban and have not had one problem with it. Been using it for 2 months and its fine. Updates to the firmware go perfect and it never drops calls or loses signal. to be honest best...
