    Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Nevermind. This is resolved. I actually WAS capped. Got confused between the peak/off-peak data. On ClientZone I'm usually used to seeing a red/orange? dot next to the product to indicate you are capped. But with the fixed LTE, if you still have night time data, it will still show as a green...

    Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Anyone else having issues with MTN Fixed LTE through Afrihost? I have no data throughput, though my router seems to connect to the network and is assigned an IP address. The IP address on the router matches the one on ClientZone. It stopped working yesterday around 4pm. I'm in Lenasia, JHB. Did...

    Recommend a (smart?) Solar Geyser

So can anyone recommend a company / installer in the JHB area? Not interested in smaller companies (I think, unless someone can convince me otherwise). Would prefer a bigger company that can provide long-term support, and has multiple teams to service customers, and has more experience and...

axxess no battery with zte mf286c modem

MTN fixed LTE is far superior to Rain 4G, but more expensive. I get 10-40mbps with Rain on a B315 router with a Poynting XPOL-6 antenna pointed at the base station. With MTN, I get 40-90mbps on the ZTE MF286c without an external antenna.

    Recommend a (smart?) Solar Geyser

Regarding insurance, the house is still on a homeloan through Standard Bank, and included is compulsory building insurance. I did try to claim for repairs to the Heat Pump, but they rejected it with some BS story that really pissed me off. Apparently electrical/surge damage is not covered when...

    Recommend a (smart?) Solar Geyser

I've heard that you have to cover the geyser, otherwise it keeps boiling the water non-stop, without any hot water being used. This can damage the solar geyser. So some people throw a blanket over it. If I have to do this, it will be a pain. If the are strong winds, the blanket could get blown...

    Recommend a (smart?) Solar Geyser

Thanks for all the replies and info, appreciate it. So just a bit of background. My current setup is heatpump + geyser tank (150/200L i think?). The heatpump no longer works and is switched off. The heat pump used to heat up the water, and send it to the geyser. The geyser would remain off 90%...

axxess no battery with zte mf286c modem

If anyone wants to sell their MF286C, let me know. I am looking for 2 of these. Willing to pay R1300 for it. I also have a Huawei B525 (3 months old, like new) that also works with MTN/Afrihost/Axxess fixed LTE, but it doesn't play nicely with my firewall. So doesn't work for me in a business...

    Recommend a (smart?) Solar Geyser

So I'm in the market for a solar geyser. I don't know too much, just doing the initial research / legwork before I start getting quotations. Any and all advice will be appreciated. I'm in JHB, and I think I need about 300 litres. This is for a household of 5. A few questions I have: - ls there...

Impossible to get B-Number from Vodacom

It's the equivalent of a phone number. The B-number helps to identify the fibre line on admin, billing and other systems used by Openserve and their reseller ISPs. Every line needs to be assigned some sort of unique identifier so that it can be referred to easily and unambiguously. Its just an...

OpenServe issues affecting Jhb South (was incorrectly "Strange CellC Fibre & OpenServe issues")

SpeedTest.net results from the last 2 days, and a few earlier ones, from my 200mbps Afrihost Fibre line: The last result (13 Nov) is what I usually get. 26 Nov there was a fibre break in the area (thieves vandalised cables, probably hoping to find copper), and then the top part of the table...

OpenServe issues affecting Jhb South (was incorrectly "Strange CellC Fibre & OpenServe issues")

Yeah... Lenasia is affected as well - we are South West of JHB (South of Soweto). My 200mbps Openserve fibre line is crawling at 1-2mbps down, but screaming 96mbps on upload. It started yesterday morning. Same issue on Openserve irrespective of ISP. I've confirmed with people using Afrihost...
