Nothing as crazy. She argued and had a bit of a meltdown when they told her she has to stop she didnt. Brother was upset about how the punishment she recieved and lost his cool once again not stopping when they told him to.
The final written warning was for not following a direct command.
Update. The response to the email was positive. They are listening to my wife so she can talk to them. There will be no salary deductions.
We are still looking for her to get a different job.
Thanks for the advice on the legality.
Thanks to everyone. An email was sent to them stating that she accepts the warning but that the salary deduction is against the law. Reason for emailing is because they make a habit of mixing business with family and I believe that that was the cause. Being mother one moment but boss the next...
We do not want to involve the CCMA at all. But if what they are doing is wrong I want to be able to tell them that without just guessing.
Unfortunately we realised to late that working for family is a mistake. I have already left and found another job. We are close to getting another...
I agree that going the legal route will not be good for the family. I would like to approach them and tell them that what they are doing is wrong and that they need to remove that part of the punishment.
Unfortunately with what they have done the rest of the family is already furious.
My wife is employed by her parents. On Monday she had an argument with them and did not stop arguing when she was told to stop.
As a result of this they have given her a final written warning for gross insubordination. We accepted this as she knows her actions were wrong.
