MTN 'trade in' - Device gone missing / no deduction

It's truly amazing that it could take them this long to just acknowledge what is probably a fairly simply problem to resolve. I wonder how many meetings have taken place and how many "stakeholders" are involved at this point.

Kirby Gordon tells FlySafair competitors to get better instead of trying to ground the airline

I've done both of those, though not with Flysafair, they're still only around 4/5 hours long. I'd rather just eat at the airport and take a coke with if you're really displeased at the cost of food on board.

Kirby Gordon tells FlySafair competitors to get better instead of trying to ground the airline

FlySafair doesn't fly any route long enough to justify or need to consume any food or drinks.

Updated Kia Picanto vs Toyota Starlet – Budget hatchback battle

Is Kia actually expecting or planning to sell any Picantos at those prices? The Starlet/Baleno are a far better option, or just get a used/demo Hyundai i20 or similar.

Has anyone had their FNB cards declined this morning? I've had it happen twice already this morning.

South Africa's new traffic fine system that introduces demerits is ready to roll out

So you think this will result in them actually doing something about moving offences, rather than just having roadblocks and speed traps?

I was a victim of phishing

I do think that you are mostly at fault. But FNB should have a double opt-in similar to Discovery when adding a card (of any sort) to Google Wallet etc. Thinking that it could never happen to me would be a dangerous mindset though, if it could happen to you it could happen to anyone here. No...

I was a victim of phishing

I love that this discussion is still going on and that the merits of virtual cards are still being questioned when this had nothing to do with a virtual card. This was a clear case of social engineering. It doesn't matter what the banks, Google, Samsung, Apple, Garmin or whoever can or will do...

I was a victim of phishing

Seems Discovery does it better than FNB. The initial approval is either via SMS or call: But the card won't work until you approve it in the Discovery bank app: The same applies when adding it to Samsung Pay, I recall it was quite frustrating when adding it to my watch because it wasn't...

I was a victim of phishing

But that isn't what happened here. The VC was linked to a Google Wallet, which the OP approved. The end result would have been that same whether he used a VC, a physical card or another bank altogether. The real issue here is that the OP blindly approved linking his card to an unknown Google...

I was a victim of phishing

I had to enter my PIN at Checkers of all places a while back on a relatively small purchase, I think around R1.5k. It was really awkward because I had no idea what it was and had to find it in the FNB app.

I was a victim of phishing

The name on your card doesn't matter, you can type in anything you want, doesn't matter whether it's a physical or virtual card. I'm sure most people name their VCs according to their intended use anyway. FNB virtual cards do have a pin. This wouldn't have turned out any differently if you had...

I was a victim of phishing

Your argument is completely flawed. This would have been no different if you had entered your physical card details and then approved adding that card to Google Pay etc. You also likely confirmed that you have read one of the phishing awareness messages in the FNB app. You can set limits...
