Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

It is a pity this graph does not keep the 2015/2016/2017 plots on them as a reminder to everyone of how dire the situation was back then.

Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Not the normal you have experienced, but for us old timers, this latest spell was more like what we were used to in the late fifties and sixties. Even the flooding -- but then there were not these vast wetland areas covered in houses and shacks and infrastructure that could be damaged. And as...

Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

yup. Driers are for emergencies only. Tuff if the washing piles up - we get enough sun even in winter to deal with it. I can understand that in countries that are snowbound for many months that driers become a habit and probably get used even if it is not really nec.

Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

woopie do. Is this supposed to be an achievement to be proud of? Or is it just a weak attempt to justify the high cost of providing wind and solar in the US? Based on what? the "book" value of power generated or the ACTUAL power generated? And presumably all those that are sitting without...

    Rain and storm for Cpt

Nope as a kid at school in Milnerton and living in Bloubergstrand, this was an every winter occurrence. and for weeks on end and more than a few times every winter. So, this is not strange at all for CT. It is what the cape is/was known for.

    Rain and storm for Cpt

I have touched snow in some of the strangest locations in SA. And most snowfalls I experienced lasted only a few days. Except for Sutherland, where the snow lingers for quite a while. Sutherland - the most, was there over July for 3 years in a row and each time there was snow. Kuruman...

Is it my imagination or do the beehives generate enough heat to keep the snow at bay, even on the ground below them?

    Rain and storm for Cpt

Paarl rock (most roads) are pretty much okay. There are only one or two sections that are a bit hairy. I did it all in normal drive and 4X4 high for the bd sections. So yes it is actually about the driver more than the vehicle. And a small car loaded like you were tends to ensure good traction.

Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

The Climate Cult has gone back and forth on this one --- The current state is that the AMOC is slowing down and the alarmists are postulating/predicting/forecasting/projecting that the currents will stop and reverse ----- no one knows when.

Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

Ah, "the Albedo Effect". You don't say. Now tell us all about the devastating Solar Panel Albedo Effect! It IS identical to the above! Solar panels are deliberately designed to ABSORB energy striking the earth, which means the Albedo of Solar Panels is almost guaranteed to be lower than the...

The SA Politics Thread Part 7 - The Truly GNU Dawn

You know the old saying about a camel being a horse designed by a committee reaching consensus ---- We now have a government designed by a committee reaching consensus. And here is a quote that describes the mess SA is in, to the tee...
