All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

What app is everyone using? I have a solar setup with a Sunsynk inverter and battery and so I have been using the Sunsynk app. Its been fine but after most updates I get logged out and no longer receive notifications and server side there have been a few issues lately. Are there any good...

    Do you tip car guards?

I get where you’re coming from, and I totally agree that tipping can sometimes create unnecessary expectations. Ideally, these workers should be paid directly by the mall, and tipping wouldn’t even be a factor. But the reality is, in a country with such high unemployment, a lot of these guys...

    Do you tip car guards?

Not needed sure but in a country full of unemployment I am happy to pay someone a small fee for less inconvenience on my side. You can very easily tell someone not to take your trolly or help you with your groceries, but if I do I will tip them.

    Do you tip car guards?

Its tough because its not an opt in service and honestly its a fairly useless service. My car has cameras and sensors, I have a drivers license, so unless they assist with loading groceries, taking my trolly back for me or helping me get in or out of a parking on a busy road I feel giving them...

    New two pot retirement system

So if we never have a need to access any of our retirement as emergency savings is there any change or impact to my retirement? I would assume it would just give me the option to pull out a lump sum come retirement?

    SARS eFiling 2023/2024

Okay so I have been working for 8 years so I should probably know the answer to this, but I don't. I always hear people say that when you pay for medicine that isn't covered by medical aid that you can claim back, and I know people on Discovery medical aid submit stuff knowing it will be...

South Africa’s new coalition government needs to centre on these 4 things, CEO warns

My guess would be that everything will be fine until its officially announced that coalitions have been made not including MK. I assume they would "behave" until those decisions have been finalised and if the results dont go their way then I'm sure Zuma and his followers will be tempted to start...

    Raspberry Pi Project Advice

I wish I had the power you think I do lol. But the main issue with that is that our driveway is single lane so her not being in the garage would block me from getting in

    Raspberry Pi Project Advice

Okay cool that sounds like a good option then! When I say I have never done a project like this I mean that seriously, so how would I go about connecting the LED to the sensors and how would it know when to turn green / red? Also should I be looking for any specific LED for this?

    Raspberry Pi Project Advice

Okay so I have never worked with a raspberry Pi before but I have a fun project I have been wanting to work on. Essentially we have a 1 car garage but 2 cars, I am wanting to know when a car is parked in the garage already or if it is available for me to use without having to pointlessly open...

    Healthiest bottled water in SA

Natural mineral water will contain electrolytes. These are what hydrate you but all get removed during reverse osmosis and other filtering / treating of water. Some companies then add minerals back at a certain ratio to achieve the taste they want, like Bonaqua. If you read the label it says...

    Smart JoJo setup advice

Hey, So currently we have a JoJo tank that we connected to our mains so if our water cuts out we can change to the JoJo and use that water instead. We have fitted all the pumps and filters and all that. What I am trying to do now is automate turning it on and finding an easy way to track how...

    Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

I have the XL Philips air fryer, the one where the bottom of the basket is a grid with a non stick coating. This coating is peeling off and bits of it get stuck to my food, which I doubt is healthy. Anyone know the best replacement to get? Preferably one that does not have any of this coating on...

    Does money buy happiness?

Too little money causes issues and unhappiness so if going from too little money to enough money then I would say technically it does buy happiness. But going from enough money to more money is no longer solving any of your problems so then its a no from me.

South Africa faces ‘civil war’ conditions due to possibility of power grid collapse

All valid points  In all seriousness though most municipal water requires electricity to pump it around so with a full grid collapse water probably wont be in the taps.

South Africa faces ‘civil war’ conditions due to possibility of power grid collapse

Is anyone doing any prepping for this? With no electricity on a countrywide scale for possibly 2 weeks or more it seems like food, water and sanitization are going to be a massive problem. You cant keep anything that requires refrigeration, you can only cook and boil water on gas. Water pumps...
