Can you enable ICMP on your router to confirm the loss doesn't originate at LAN level?

Hi, First trace shows no loss and the second shows loss on Googles portion. Can you try run the mtr to some other destinations for comparison?

    "Best Effort" service

No problem :) We are on 30 networks all with varying degrees of scale so unfortunately, I can't give a realistic response on the most calls. Mean time again is complicated, are you referring to line downs, congestion, latency throughput etc With the last question, are you referring to line downs?

    "Best Effort" service

If the CEOs are greedy, they would make more money not shaping vs shaping is my point. I can confirm Afrihost don't shape or throttle, but when using a transit provider for international, you never get complete transparency. This is one of the reasons why we do wet capacity to London.

    "Best Effort" service

Umm not really, you are quoting product marketing coined by a particular ISP. Also you seem to be stuck on the ADSL era of broadband which I can agree was not fair to the consumer, as we all know the popular term was advertised "up to". Uptime as a % is now higher on a per link basis vs what...

    "Best Effort" service

Best effort covers the service from end to end. The point is more around not being able to get credits for a service that is either down or performing poorly. It is mostly there just as an insurance policy and most FNOs provide a decent service if you look at it statistically. There will be...

Yeah, still peered. Did anyone try with the UK vpn? As it should bypass the local peer and AWS side of things.

    Something really wrong with MetroFibre.

Not really UK and US base services on potential bandwidth, which is basically best effort. SAs typical delivery performance with ftth is higher than most countries. The major differentiator is just that they base almost everything on 1Gbps, so that when it's below that in real world, it...

    Something really wrong with MetroFibre.

Glad to hear it. Typically, we don't come across any limitations from the FNOs. If there is, it's unplanned or some sort of outage that causes congestion somewhere. And for other capacity these days, it's typically cheaper to just buy more capacity vs. implementing systems to throttle people.

Hi, Maybe let us know what your setup is like and maybe the community can help you fix the issue?

Usually, it is down to a metro failure in Europe, so express route for Equiano on the terrestrial side.

Mweb throttling gaming in peak times...

Who is your FNO? We can pop you test accounts if Openserve. At least that would narrow down your issue.

Usually, it means they've had multiple express paths fail, and you end up hairpining via Cape Town sort of thing.
