The price of driving versus using the Gautrain

This article is not entirely useless, but it's not useful for the use cases that everyone is applying it to (household going from zero to one car). It's a lot more useful for households looking to go from x to x+1 cars, where x is greater than zero. I carried out a similar analysis at one point...

    FNB fraud warning

FNB Commercial is the part of the business which deals with large (commercial) customers, as opposed to Retail (individual banking) and Business (small and medium businesses)

How much teachers should really earn in South Africa

If your code (in a code base you inherited a year ago) successfully delivers 14.4% of the business requirements from 13 years ago, would you be content with that being used as a metric for your increase? You need to evaluate teachers based on what they do during the year they have the student...

How Amazon and Takealot deal with sellers listing products at inflated prices

This not only isn't good for Takealot, it's absolutely against their best interests. When a customer who paid R39k discovers after the fact that they could have had the same product for less than half the price, they're not going to blame their lack of research. They will (rightfully) feel that...

Nersa recommends retail electricity tariff adjustments be approved

Because Eskom can't rely on you pushing any solar power into the grid, they need to generate the power anyway. This impacts them as they're not able to turn generating capacity on and off willy-nilly, they have a set amount that they need to generate at all times. If all solar users could...

Nersa recommends retail electricity tariff adjustments be approved

Nope. They specifically called out that only those connected to the grid will be subject to the tariffs. If you do not want to be subject to the tariffs (as an Eskom direct customer) then you remove your Eskom connection.

Nersa recommends retail electricity tariff adjustments be approved

You only need to register with Eskom if you're an Eskom direct customer.

Nersa recommends retail electricity tariff adjustments be approved

You won't have to register anything to be affected by this. These tariffs will be for everyone, they'll catch out the solar users who have minimal usage but there are no special "solar tariffs" recommended here.

‘FNB let me down’: Woman demands answers after boyfriend 'Prince Jomo Kenyatta' vanished with her R2 million pension

It's highly likely that the "boyfriend" helped set up the account, and set up his phone number as inContact / set up the app profile himself etc. He probably had full access to the account all the time (without her knowing) and could simply make and authorize the transfers.

Banks giving refunds on your behalf?

If the customer paid by card then they can automatically reverse if there's a dispute. If it was an EFT they can't reverse it, they'll ask you to reverse it. They however do not want to bank fraudulent clients so if their fraud department finds that your conduct towards your customer was...

Takealot vs Amazon vs Makro vs Incredible online delivery comparison

They have a promotion on where everything sold by Amazon (not the stuff sold by third parties) has free next day delivery. I've ordered something for under R20 and received free delivery

BYD showcases its electric supercar's ability to jump over potholes

I'd imagine the car could jump straight up and down, but how far forward you get depends on your speed. At low speed you're not going to cover much ground.

Solar inverter brands to ensure the best potential return on investment for home solar systems

You should still cycle your battery, even if you have a single, 5kWh one. LFP batteries do not like being maintained at 100%, it's bad for their health and longevity.

    Travelstart Daylight Robbery

When you book, you specify the cabin class (Economy, Premium Economy, Business or First) that you want. Most airlines have one ticket class for First, Business and Premium Economy, but multiple ticket classes for Economy. A change in ticket class is not necessarily considered an upgrade, you'll...

Home Affairs Minister says SITA is an obstacle to technological progress

I believe the different SITA services don't just have different SLA, but have different speeds and redundancy levels.

The woman who duped the government and three JSE giants

I suspect this probably started as a white lie to friends / peers (she probably didn't obtain the Ph.d but rather than tell people that, she just lied that she'd obtained it). It starts snowballing though, as people start referring to you as Dr and you can't correct them without exposing the...

    FlySafair under siege

They're not being asked to give away a majority stake for mahala, they're being asked to adhere to a law they knew when they set up. They can sell the stake to a local company, or find another way to regularise their position. I have no sympathy for Flysafair in this matter, they knew the...

    FlySafair under siege

No, a case of 'it's difficult to compete with someone who's not following the rules, when you have to follow them'.
