Breaking DStv's sports rights monopoly without hindering sports funding and development

What's much more likely to happen is that SA test series vs. India, Eng & Aus will be on DSTV because they will outbid everyone, vs NZ will be on some random eTV channel on OpenView and SABC will get the series against Bangladesh for free but will choose not to broadcast the tests & ODIs at all...

Excitement and consequent anxiety over new opportunity

Like you would for the house, sometimes you've just got to swallow it and move on. However, if it really excites you, there's nothing stopping it from being a long term chase. Thank them for the chance to interview, toss in a few sentences that go something along the lines of "Ah, I thought I'd...

    Software developer salaries in 2021

Is that surprising though? The vast majority of junior to intermediate developer positions in SA are interchangeable. When I earned the CJI related salary, I was doing CJ job ad status work, which is bog standard web dev at a pretty unchallenging level at a fairly uninteresting company with no...

    Software developer salaries in 2021

Every time I see the CJI, I wonder if either it's completely nonsensical or I should thank my lucky stars I work where I do. Seeing as this has spread over multiple jobs now, I'm veering towards the former. The only time the numbers actually made sense was when I worked for CJ.

And suddenly the market for 1kg lead weights goes through the roof.

DStv Explora Ultra vs Explora 3 - Why the new Explora is a "must-have"

Even if the only set top box you've ever seen was the Explora 3, this would be underwhelming. Seeing as there are things like the Mi Box S on store shelves (which in and of itself is an underwhelming set top box compared to a Nvidia Shield TV or Apple TV) and it'll likely cost more than that...

ShowMax Pro has been launched in South Africa and includes a limited sports offering

If it had Motorsport, Tennis, Cricket & Rugby it would have been an automatic switch. Mobile SD is lol, my phone has a higher resolution than my ancient TV.

South Africa is changing its marriage laws

Sure, but there's no reason for one fairy tale to be automagically accredited and another not, if they're both essentially the same story. This was just straight up Adam and Eve, not Adam & Eve & Eve & Steve where it's more complicated.

South Africa is changing its marriage laws

Frivolity aside, this is a pretty important thing. It's completely absurd that this has taken so long. There was absolutely no reason to not recognise a non-Christian marriage at the ceremony and it's left a trail of unscrupulous people who think they can just do a "traditional" divorce...

What do you miss the most during the lockdown?

Literally just the ability to go out. Also the office, I've had enough of this WFH nonsense.

How many cars have you had in your lifetime?

1989 My grandpa's BMW 325i - I blew the engine on the banked curves outside Hammarsdale. I maintain to this day that it wasn't my fault. 1997 Opel Astra Euro 200ise - There was a timing chain failure. 1995 Toyota Camry 3.0 V6 - Traded it in for the wife's car in 2013 2007 Peugeot 407 - Expensive...

Ordering From Amazon.com Affordable in SA?

Considering it was an international import, it was almost certainly grey. There's some bit of blah on their terms and conditions that states that the warrantee is what their supplier offered, which raru wasted no time in pointing out but they've never lied, they just omitted any mention of a...
