Aircons sold in SA have poor energy efficiency?

This is the type of massive mistake I expect I'm making. The confusing this is that this is apparently: "The SEER rating is calculated by dividing the total number of BTUs (British Thermal Units) of heat removed from the air by the total amount of energy required by the air conditioner in...

Aircons sold in SA have poor energy efficiency?

Indeed, I've already accounted for this. I've had good insulation installed on top of already thick rhinolite ceilings. I'm also going to install UV tint all windows and sliding folding doors before installing the aircons.

Aircons sold in SA have poor energy efficiency?

Hi, According to Wikipedia's page for SEER (Seasonal energy efficiency ratio), the US requires a SEER between 11.7 and 14.3 (depending on region and system size). I know this isn't the US, but those are the absolute minimums required for new installations, so I would expect that at least some...

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

I did take it with the original purchase. Thanks for the heads-up!

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

The following is also now confirmed working: - Headphone jack - Microphone - Camera I also got Wayland working (exactly how is off topic, but I'll expand if someone wants me to). From brief playing around it seems much less "laggy" / prone to tearing than X11. So far I can recommend this...

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

Fait criticism, guess it's just a old habbit from the Ubuntu days. Serious question, what would you suggest as an alternative, maybe KDE? Seems off topic, but isn't really. I've noticed that the graphics seems laggy and prone to tearing when using hybrid graphics. I suspect the iGPU frames are...

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

I received the laptop today, and so far: - Arch installed - Wifi works - LAN works - Bluetooth works - Audio works (internal, haven't tested jacks) - Display and external display via HDMI works (struggling to get Wayland to work, but this is normal for Nvidia graphics cards. Currently running...

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

True, but I don't think 100W (the limit of USB-C charging) is enough to sustain most day to day uses. So at best I believe it'll slow down the battery drain. It is very convenient for charging while off / on standby though.

Arch Linux on Wootbook Ultra X16 (2023)

It's been a few months and I finally made the purchase. Well kind of... I bought the WootBook Ultra Y16, which seems to be pretty much the same thing as the X16, just with a Intel 14900HX instead of the 13900HX. There might be other "small" differences, like the Y16 apparently supporting power...

Update on my situation: Finally got someone knowledge and helpful at retentions that was able to assist. He offered me quite a few options for data only, but very similar to what has been posted here (nothing special). I then realized that I could actually do with minutes (I keep loading...

Retentions says that this deal (202310ESS1005) doesn't exist... They double checked multiple times. I was however of offered 150GB anytime + 150GB night time for R318 p/m for 36 months (EDIT: 50GB shareable, they didn't want to give me a deal code). Thinking about this, but don't want to be...

I have exactly the same R1818 bill issue. I did upgrade shortly after my 2020 36 month contract expired, and after much pain was told I already owe the R1818 since it's the cost of the first month of the now month-to-month contract. Even after upgrading, the full R1818 + R299 (for new package)...

Tried online, can't upgrade until January. So will have to add another contract, then cancel the month to month it seems. Which means paying R299x2 per month for 2 months.

Update: after struggling with various agents, it seems that MTN has no idea what they're talking about. From what I can now tell, no matter how many days into the billing period of your now month-to-month contract you upgrade / cancel, you'll be charged the full amount for the month. This can...

I spoke to MTN yesterday. My contract (MTN Choice 50GB, BF2020) expired on Saturday. They indicated I will only be charged pro-rata for the days since expiry (Saturday) if I upgrade. I upgraded to the Mobile Internet Ruby (70GB) yesterday. I did the upgrade online, was effective within 30...
