Doesn't matter where you get your electricity from, if you live in the western cape under the DA you have to unfortunately abide by all their by-laws and in this case those include the registration of PV systems, no standalone systems are allowed and you're only allowed to use a COCT approved...
That's not really an option, the application would never be approved as it's a standalone system with a ching-chong solar UPS and no way my friend is buying a coct approved inverter.
So my friend has a north-facing wall that gets direct sun for most of the day. He also has a ching-chong UPS that is solar ready(freestanding and not connected to his home's DB) for use during load shedding. My friend would like to add a solar panel to his setup but living in the western cape...
Thanks, I'm a pretty hands-on DIY guy but I don't trust myself enough to fit doors myself. I'll probably end up shaving them down too much or misalign the locks
I'm planning on buying 4 new interior doors, locks and handles and would like to get someone to install them as they will need to be fitted seeing that the average door is 813mm x 2032 and my existing ones are 805mm x 1990mm so it'll need a bit of shaving down.
Has anyone recently done a...
Ah interesting. Shows how far we've come that 20W was considered "energy saving" when you now get 3W - 6W LED bulbs that essentially produces the same amount of light
Recently moved into our new home(built in 2005) and found this bulb in one of the ceiling lights while replacing some of them. Is this quite common to find and how would it have ended up here? I've never seen a not-for-sale Eskom branded bulb before.
I also find it ironic that Eskom makes bulbs...
Thing is you can't get a COC if you don't have a city approved inverter and I, sorry meant my friend, is definitely not going to spend R20K+ on an approved inverter setup when they can get one for a fraction of the price while still still having all the proper protection features.
Sometimes I really like the DA and then sometimes like now I really hate them. Definitely voting ANC next year so that I can have a DB board that looks like the ones the rest of the country has.
True but with the whole roof mounting you need an engineers signoff, don't think that's the case if mounted on a wall and since COCT no longer allows the registration of standalone backup systems that feeds a secondary DB I believe my friend should be good to go if he doesn't follow through with...
