    Slim Micro-ATX Case Recommendation

The problem with single NIC device is you would need a switch that has proper VLAN support to do the routing for Untangle/pfSense. All their devices have dual or quad NIC to make it easier. I have a PCIe Dual Port Intel NIC that I was going to use. I think it would have some big performance...

    Slim Micro-ATX Case Recommendation

Any recommendations for a slim micro-atx case easily available in SA? I have an old Asus Z97M-PLUS with i7-4790 (stock heatsink) and 1 SSD that I want to reuse for Untangle or pfSense or what ever. I'm looking for a compact/slim case that is minimalist and doesn't take up loads of space, or...

    PiHole + Stubby Questions

I played around last night with enabling DNSSEC (and the rest of the DNSSEC Stubby settings at default) but it seems A LOT slower than when it's not enabled - based on the "Reply" times listed in the PiHole Query log. 50/50mb On Frogfoot + Afrihost Pure Fibre. My issue with that route is...

    PiHole + Stubby Questions

First off, I'm a Linux and terminal NOOB so I've never got my hands dirty with any of cool stuff I've seen everyone else doing. I know I'm several years late to the party but I finally decided to pull the trigger and got around to: 1) installing Raspbian Buster Lite + PiHole (using LTT PiHole...

Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

This sounds super dodge. R72/R52 for a twelve month license. That's cheaper than their 1 month license. Are you downloading the setup files from Nord or some other link as well?

Mine also went down, in Broadwood.

    Online Safety / Security Q

Yo, I can't help with freeware as I have a paid Malwarebytes Business license and don't have a need for VPN at this point. Most people don't really NEED a VPN. But, I can say is that everyone should, at a bare minimum, be using Privacy Badger on Firefox and Chrome - if they not using Brave...

    VOX Powerbank on offer

There are a lot of them all over the show, some have much better stats. Make sure its Lithium battery. I wanted to get this one but it was out of stock at Takealot: https://www.takealot.com/ups-12v-4800mah-battery-power-bank-for-wifi-fibre-lte-router/PLID54505552 So I got this one from Geewiz...

FrogFoot performance in Port Elizabeth 18h00 to 22h00

Dam. Looking at the planned maintenance on frogfootfibre, for the next 3 days, I think it will be better to switch back to SADV until the 19th.

FrogFoot performance in Port Elizabeth 18h00 to 22h00

I'll admit that my VDSL line with Openserve was rock solid for 2 straight years. I'm 3 houses from one of those huge white cabinets and had excellent latency. Days like this I really miss it...

FrogFoot performance in Port Elizabeth 18h00 to 22h00

    D-Link DIR825AC/G1 firmware update 3.0.6 glitch

What did you change it to? My understanding from another thread was that Rev R1's v1.0.0 firmware is newer than the v3.0.x firmware. However, there is no v1.0.0 firmware on SA or Russia D-Link FTPs. @AfriMan is v1.0.0 a custom firmware for AH?

FrogFoot performance in Port Elizabeth 18h00 to 22h00

Dam, I see all these issues AFTER I've ordered the product. I hope it is all sorted before my FrogFoot install scheduled for the 14 Nov... I might be crawling back to SADV if not.

    FTTH Port Elizabeth

Thanks. They are getting 40ms with speedtest.net over wifi on their phone - we can remove 15-20ms for the wifi latency so they probably getting around 20 - 25ms? Asking them to do a tracert over cable might be a bit much. Mine is still 38ms via cable (not over wifi) so I'm pretty sure it is...

    Medical aid for a pensioner

Have a look at EssentialMed as well. You can build exactly what cover you want and what levels of cover you want for each section (Accident, Day-to-Day, Dentistry, etc.). It was started/backed by two really good businessman - one being former FNB CEO Michael Jordaan, who started the digital...
