Soweto residents want to pay R150 per month for electricity

Why was South Africa the most successful? Sounds a lot like children doing as the parents taught them. edit: It seems like some are taking what I’m saying very personally, judging by a post of mine that disappeared.

I did you one better and gave you the exact situation that I’ve observed.

What do you think about Mandela’s approach during that time?

Yes, evidently my best isn’t quite good enough for you. Perhaps someone else might explain it better to you. Maybe your kids.

Why did the ANC do all of that? I was well below the voting age in ‘92 and ‘94. I’ll do my best. Say my father robs your father so that I can have a better life. And by all accounts I do have that better life. And because of my father robbing your father, your father had a much tougher time...

“Believes in” is not the right term, more like “observes”. And it most certainly does not discriminate based on skin colour - that’s just our colourful past playing mind games.

Wow, we finally agree on something because that’s exactly the sort of response that I too would expect from calling someone out on their guilt. I mean entitlement. Is the ANC the only difference you can think of between SA and those other countries you mentioned?

I see the guilt as easily as you see the entitlement. Do you reckon that those who suffer from the entitlement that you see so easily are aware of their entitlement? Will they readily admit that they are entitled? What kind of reaction might you get for calling someone out on their entitlement...

Wherever it is. I wonder if you have as hard a time seeing the entitlement?

Is that really the only way you see to end our sense of entitlement and guilt? (Entitlement and guilt being the two sides of the South African coin)

Be careful what you wish for. The EFF, whose rise seems like a culmination of a lot of pent up anger and frustration, is the opposition that is being strengthened. And they’re basically promising free everything for the Cannotpayers.

I agree with you. I expected the conversation to continue. And it did. I do but it’s rather triggering. It goes something like:

Right again. I agree with this. What do we do until then? Wait? The unique problem with South Africa is that many feel like the liberation struggle hasn’t ended. So ANC might still be around for a while.

On the contrary, I actually like listening to opinions that differ from mine. It’s enlightening.

Can you separate the ANC’s problems from South Africa’s and your problems?

I’m not the one who needs convincing. I’m agreeing that he sees it that way and I understand why he sees it that way and I also understand that while he sees it that way then he won’t be able to see it the way I see it so it would be pointless to continue. A kind of agreeing to disagree. There...

Perhaps you’re right. Perhaps the issue is bigger than just Soweto. Are you ready?
