    Home Automation - Smartkit

Considering the price of that contactor, is there any reason not to use a solid state relay of sufficient load capacity eg https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Solid-State-Relay-Omron-Type-240VAC-25A-With-Heat-Sink/290643862729?epid=0&hash=item43abb964c9:g:F6IAAMXQIfJRGInn Edit: being aware of course...

eWeLink to begin charging for IFTTT

I don't think you're missing much by not having access to IFTTT - maybe a location-based link or two that could be useful. You could download IFTTT and scroll through all the pre-built automations to see if anything warrants the $10. Same as ThatGuy_ZA suggests, maybe investigate Home Assistant...

    Where are the Dell techs?

I have a Dell Optiplex 745 USFF, definitely a little elderly. Last week it decided to do a random restart shortly after a cold boot (booted into Windows 7, then it restarted shortly after I had opened an app) and then repeated this behaviour a few times at different intervals. I opened it and...

I think @alqassam was suggesting a contactor, not contractor, but I could be wrong.

    Home Automation - Smartkit

I'm in a very similar position with Home Assistant and Sonoff switches using AlexxITs integration. Most of the automations I find are for use with Tasmota, and are often applied with Node Red. The eWeLink app still works with unflashed Sonoff kit, so I just use the Power-on State switch on the...

Please help me understand the SONOFF Mini

@zippy320 - head on over to the app store and install Google Home, Google Assistant and Home Assistant, they work fine on iPhone. Also bear in mind that you can get all your Sonoff kit into Home Assistant (HassOS) without having to flash with Tasmota.

    CCTV Camera System Recommendations?

You should find the phone app useful then - you can have the camera send alerts to your phone in addition to having the siren making a racket

    CCTV Camera System Recommendations?

I have this camera's brother - the main difference is that mine does not do colour at night, and H264 vs H265. Good quality camera, good images, apps and software seem solid enough. You're paying for some extra features (siren, strobes etc) that you may not have a use for.

Ancient electric gate error diagnosis, please

Your quickest fix will be to hook up a known good battery, same voltage. If all works okay you can just replace the original battery and check that it's charging.

Ancient electric gate error diagnosis, please

Many of these systems use DC motors, powered by the battery. The mains supply is mostly there to keep the battery charged. If the battery is a bit dodgy you'll get all sorts of odd behaviour.

    Ubuntu Installation, removing Windows

I'd be happier dual booting until certain that Ubuntu picks up all my hardware and does what I need. Then you can trash Windows if you like or if you need the drive space.
