So I recently bought a bottle of Vat 69 (after reading some good recommendations from this thread). Cracked it last night and to be honest I thought it was vile. On the nose, I got tequila. Reminded me of Olmeca Silver. I was instantly put off as I do not enjoy tequila (past life experiences)...

If you are big into your Islays, you are probably a guy who likes whisky with a lot of character. Bourbon's/ryes are probably right up your alley then if you do enjoy the sweeter/florally type of whiskies as well. If you decide to explore the Irish first, Redbreast 12, Teeling Single Malt...

I am also a firm believe that the 17 is the best in their range. I did try the 25 at TOWS but did not find it that remarkable and certainly not worth the extra money over the 17. I also gave the 105 a try and will definitely be getting a bottle soon.

I've never had it myself. Personally I am a Bulleit fan. Its one of my everyday drinkers. I'd also recommend Blantons or Maker's Mark.

Thank you very much for your feedback! Originally the survey started out as a JHB only thing as that is where I am interested in setting up shop. For the timebeing, I'll leave the general area as other for everyone. It is mostly everyone's consumption and appetite for price that I am interested...

Oh man, I am glad I came across this thread <3 I am a huge whiskey fan myself. I'll post a picture of my small collection this weekend. In the meantime, I am doing some research of the SA whisky market to help construct a business plan of sorts. I would really appreciate it if you could...
