2020 Takealot Vouchers Thread 2.0 (Everyone Welcome)

I opened up account for all my family members, on their own devices over the years - not all of them have received vouchers. It is not a sure thing in the end I guess.

About 1 in 1 242 354 (+- the amount of orders they did in March). If they made R1 per order profit, they are giving away about 0.08% of their profit a month towards this - they are not serious about it at all.

Uber Eats orders may need to be more than 1kg - industry expert

Have we actually read the law? I do not foresee any issues. All my parcels are more than 10cm thick, like always. Same with my incoming parcels. Takealot would need to discard their smallest box, and then they are 100% within the law. My bank cards are done under 4(a) "Delivery by an employee...

Guys, I am game and all for this. My first order, a test order as such, will be a fish dish. Who is willing to test the waters with me?

Have you ever returned something because you found it cheaper elsewhere?

Still sealed, not opened, not used - I have never returned opened items ... sealed items go back to the shelf and there is no loss for the retailer at all. At least if one ignores the underlying transaction costs, time and till slip paper used etc. Edit: I have never seen a retailer that do not...

Have you ever returned something because you found it cheaper elsewhere?

I have done it before, and see no issue with it. It is allowed as per the standard terms from retailers.... so why would I feel bad using it? But if the price difference is minor, I do not bother. It rarely happens in any case, as I do my homework. But sometimes I miss e.g. a 3 for 2 Clicks...

SpaceX must have 30% black ownership to launch Starlink in South Africa – ICASA

Unfortunately the clients feel that forcing anything more than 0%, is akin to giving away free money/expropriation without compensation by putting them on the wrong side of the equation when it comes to negotiations. Some of them already have the required ownership, au natural, but have taken a...

SpaceX must have 30% black ownership to launch Starlink in South Africa – ICASA

Interesting. Some of our clients have started up overseas entities in order to try and avoid this requirement, so this will not sit too well with them. Also received confirmation from 4 of our clients in the past week that they will be closing up shop if this 30% requirement is ever enforced...

    Yoco Payment Gateway

Well yes, and no... once you start doing volume, there might be better alternatives out there. Also, I trust payfast and can get you up and running within the hour, once you have been approved etc. I cannot say the same for yoco (as in I have never been through the process myself). With payfast...

    Yoco Payment Gateway

Did not know they have a payment gateway ... they are R2 + 0.05% cheaper than payfast, so that ain't bad. But payfast was super easy to implement. No idea how much of a pain it would be to implement yoco. From a retail perspective, they are 'cheap'. Especially if you are just starting off. I...

Sure they do. But those are few and far between. Normally backed by external parties though, so e.g. the latest one was backed/issued by Standard Bank afaik.

    Router Battery Backup

@scienide Pnp did not come through. Picked up an Amplify 2000mah powerbank from hifi corp for R49 today. After a lot of struggles I got it open and the 18650 battery inside was sitting at 2.4V. Busy charging it up inside the mini UPS. Edit: Battery was still charging this morning. Edit 2: Got...
