Fibre-to-the-home price comparison - Vumatel and Octotel join the price war

Why no Herotel pricing? Guess it exposes the other FNO's greed.

    NewCo fibre

How's is the Herotel deployment going in Sedgefield? I see Octotel also busy there. Im struggling to understand why someone would go for Octo if Hero is R499 for 50Mbps?

They way I see these FNO's deploying it's not really surprising that as time goes by there are issues

For sure, but you have posted on the forum, presumably for help from the community? We don't need to know how PPPoE works, we know that...we need to know how you sending the PADI packet and if you have tried using a different method to send it!

I can assure you websquadza knows how PPPoE works. Thing is they learning your routers MAC, on a VLAN that has other clients already able to auth via PPPOE. something does not make sense and it's logical to assume it's your side as what else could it be? Have you got a laptop directly plugged...

Pure DSL - Internet on Laptop slow, but fast on android........

@AfriNatic As an ISP you should be looking to route that proxy IP to a blackhole

Pure DSL - Internet on Laptop slow, but fast on android........

@rpm I feel mybb should put some investigative peeps on this. There are potentially 1000's of dlink DSL routers which are proxying clients connections! who knows what data is being mined by this proxy. current contents of : http://wpad.domain.name/wpad.dat function FindProxyForURL(url, host)...

    Fibre contractors cause havoc

So one would think....but they not accurate, some of them are not even digital! I also question if the FNO's know where their fibre lines are...wayleaves say for example 1M from erf boundary and the FNO guys just put where they want...how they gonna find them later who knows

    Fibre contractors cause havoc

Not gonna happen, not at least in my town. We found countless pipes and cables no more than 20cm below the surface. You would cut the whole roads power and water off lol

    mesh networking

I would do it this way, really no point in having two separate devices.

Some of the FNO's just have piss poor backup systems implemented. Very little engineering thought going into a lot of these. Some of the "solutions" I have seen are laughable and would be more akin to home DIY kit to run your TV during loadshedding. FTTx is critical infrastructure in my opinion.
