Anyone Tried New World ? Wondering about latency.

Me too. I have been dying for a good MMO that I can join in when it's still new and fresh and this one looked great. Some local people seem to be willing to stomach the jankiness, though.

Anyone Tried New World ? Wondering about latency.

Exactly, and as we're all used to by now, there is extremely little chance for us to get a server locally. And even if we do, the population won't be high enough to make it a proper MMO experience.

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

I think I got it working, but I think we might unfortunately be a bit ambitious with the amount of people willing to go through all that for a local server on such an old game. Might be a bit of a pie in the sky plan, to be honest.

Anyone Tried New World ? Wondering about latency.

I tried it. It's terrible. High latency causes really bad janky animations. And since this game uses a blocking and dodging mechanic, timing and janky animations make it practically unplayable. Blocking and jumping really spazzes out the player on top of not being able to time your moves. The...

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

Wow, a little bit of a mission to get that game running in the modern era. I did not expect that. I forgot the official servers have closed down.

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

BF4 has been a good filler and that actually has a lot of local activity. But if BF2 kicks off, I'll jump on that no questions asked. BF2 is some of my best multiplayer experiences

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

You think there are enough people to fill up a local server?

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

The nostalgia hit me strong on seeing this. I remember I played the demo as a kid dozens of times and I was always so sad when I reach a point where I needed to place some kind of bead in some kind of mechanism, but then I couldn't continue cause it was the end of the demo. Now that I think...

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

The furthest I've gotten is where I needed to steal some kind of oil wagon for a mission. I don't know if this is the part of the game where it has opened up yet that you are referring to. Maybe I have ADD that's ruining it for me, because there are long periods of non-stimulation and I'm not...

What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

That's so odd to hear what other people experience. I tried this game on many occasions, but I just get bored out of my skull within the hour. I just can't muster the motivation to even bother launching it.

No, it's an Archer C6. I signed up to CISP way back and got a router that only supported 100Mpbs ports. I have since upgraded the line to 200Mbps so I bought a new router that supported gigabit ethernet. Although I might have spoken too soon, uploads are still slow. But at least I know where...

That's odd. I swapped cables and stuff and I narrowed it down to a faulty router. So I updated the router firmware, boom. 0.08% packet loss. How a firmware update fixed packet loss is beyond me. I was almost ready to just order a new router. But thanks for the help everyone!

This is my iperf test bypassing the router and plugging my PC directly into the ONT. I'm assuming this means it's my router that's screwed and nothing to do with CISP? 0.066% packet loss is a teensy bit better than 48%, I would say... C:\iperf>iperf3 -u -b 90M -O2 -t 10 -p 17001 -c...

Will do! Thanks a million for your help! "but it is strange that it improved a bit after your winsock reset." Probably a coincidence. The upload has been pretty inconsistent for weeks. Sometimes dead, sometimes fine-ish. Also thanks to everyone for helping me with the iperf stuff too.
