Smart outdoor security cameras in SA?

Could be these - I use the same PIRs but without the shield, I just sealed the lens area and put insulation tape over the battery door...

Update to Android 11 (MIUI Global 12.0.1.0) just downloaded and installed on my Redmi 9 without incident. This is my first experience with Android, all previous smartphones have been Apple, from iPhone 3GS up. Can't say I'm missing iOS.

Why is my new alarm battery not working?

If the new battery had only 12.0 volts on receipt then it's not in good shape at all.

Home Assistant : Q&A, Tips & Tricks, Your Configs

I've tried it again and elected to fix the GPT table rather than ignore - I still got an error message but when I started the VM up again and got HA running my storage is now upped to 25GB, so it's all good..... Thanks a lot for the pointers @InternetLuddite @Speedster @furpile @w1tw0lf

Home Assistant : Q&A, Tips & Tricks, Your Configs

I've tried the tutorial as outlined here but I get an error when using GParted to resize the disk so I'm stumped: http://derekmolloy.ie/resize-a-virtualbox-disk/#prettyPhoto (yes I know the link looks dodgy but it's okay.....) Edit: The error that I get is non-informative so it may well be...

I'd prefer to keep HA on this Windows machine, I don't have a full understanding of a Docker install but it doesn't seem to be possible on Windows.

Home Assistant : Q&A, Tips & Tricks, Your Configs

HA reports that the VM disk size is only 5.2GB, with 4.7GB in use, so hardly surprising that it's complaining. I've used the virtual media manager in VirtualBox to increase the virtual disk size, but it seems I have to also do a physical disk partition and merge, which is doing my head in. Is...

Home Assistant : Q&A, Tips & Tricks, Your Configs

I'm running Home Assistant OS 6.0 in VirtualBox on Windows 10. All of a sudden I have run out of space on the VM - it has consistently been under 70% now it's at 90% and I cannot update or add integrations. I cannot find any particular reason for this so I guess I need to increase size of the VM...

Smart outdoor security cameras in SA?

@ jdido87 Those aluminium frame windows are a popular target - my neighbour has been hit a couple of times but has found a decent solution. Get some long shank pop rivets (long enough to extend through the beading and the actual frame), then once you've replaced the rubber seal, window pane and...

    WiFi security cameras

Also be aware that some cameras use PIR for motion detection, which doesn't work too well (if at all) through glass.....

In Developer Options, if you check under the Apps section, there is a toggle that states 'Force allow apps to write on external storage'. I don't know whether this pertains to apps under development or to apps already/about to be installed but it may be worth investigating.
