I have the 1000W inverter with the lithium battery. The fan always runs and it tends to be quite loud

I'm in Gauteng. The fault is with PCLink anyways, they got back to me today to tell me they can't request an update from Mustek because they don't know what the job card number is. How they manage to action a return and not keep track of it is beyond me EDIT: Someone else from PCLink is now...

So two weeks have passed since Mustek collected the components. I have contacted PCLink several times and I have received no response of any sort at any stage in the last two weeks. Their prices are good but support is a borderline scam, I wouldn't buy anything expensive from them

Yes, but Mustek was solidly at fault. They would respond to PcLink saying they will provide an ETA, and then just never respond  Eventually Mustek managed to use a different courier company to their normal one and they came to collect, no word since then though. They can't tell me how...

It is good for the price. The fan noise is quite intense though. I had a bad unit but I saw some others are having a good time with theirs

They managed to come and fetch the components on Tuesday after a week and a half and 30 emails back and forth. Waiting for them to assess them now

    Thoughts - mecer axpert 1200w (R5k) vs mecer 1200mppt (R2K)

Let me know how that goes, I know this thing is fussy with what fans it'll accept and not reject with errors

It's Lithium, his cut off is fine, above the spec recommended actually. The battery specs actually say 10V is fine but being more conservative than that is better for lifespan

I think this was perhaps a little premature. I am having all sorts of hell with them wanting to charge me handling and delivery fees, or not wanting to change components now. They also want me to put it through the warranty. I just got the things, I am well within the regular return window...

I've no idea, and nobody seems to be able to confidently give an answer either on the retail side of things. I guess I'll see what it arrives

If you'd like to open it up and send some decent pictures, we could probably see what internal component might cause this sort of modified sine wave to fry it. If anyone else has an oscilloscope laying around for some reason, a voltage probe of the voltage these mecer inverters put out would...

Two broken mecer inverters in two days, unfortunate stuff

The underspecced battery cables also make me think the latter is the case. The battery type switch not working and the weird voltage undershooting/overshooting issues could be due to the faulty unit but the combination of them all definitely makes it seem like a rushed product. I think I'll get...

Phoned Mustek. They advise I return the battery and inverter for a full refund seeing that it's within the 7 day return window. I can then order again separately (both incase the inverter has done something weird to the battery - they believe the inverter is faulty) to make sure I get new...

Well 1000W inverter, 12V battery. That would mean I need to pull a good 83A rms to get up to the rated sustained power output nevermind inefficiencies increasing that current pull further. These wires should be rated for 100A nominal and my options were an 80A fuse or a 100A fuse so I went with...

T Thanks. I actually have a container and fuse coming from geewiz, should arrive today or tomorrow. Would recommend a 100A fuse, they're something like R59 on geewiz. Worth the price to protect this sort of investment. A clearline fridge protector also seems decent to protect the electronics...

Probably more worth just replacing it altogether then. That mppt 12V inverter comes with battery cables so you just need that and the battery, Then some sort of container if you'd like. It is a bit of a weird size though so most available boxes don't fit well

I wouldn't go gel again. The Mecer mppt 12V should be good. I am having issues but hopefully those are resolved before you need to replace your battery so that you can confidently go with that. Check your 720W inverter though. If it supports a bulk charge voltage of between 14.6V and 14.1V...

I would definitely go with the two lithium batteries over the two LA ones. Much higher capacity, lower battery weight, longer rated lifespan and not too much more expensive. I didn't even get charged a delivery surcharge for my battery delivery, the thing can be moved around relatively easily.

I think the battery is fine, seems the inverter isn't playing nicely. Mustek are looking into it though so I will provide more feedback on that. These mecer 200Ah batteries are unbeatable for the price, I got almost 2kWh worth out of mine on my discharge test two days ago and it didn't start...
