Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

So some feedback for those with same issue, took the drive to Digicape in Sandton, handed laptop in, got a call next day that its been fixed, some buttons replaced. no charge as Apple has confirmed its still part of recall warranty (its now 3.5 years old already). Was sceptical about the...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

who did you send this video to? I am assuming they need to log on to laptop to test it, so did you create a seperate user for them? I am thinking of doing that with this video on the desktop so they cant miss it. So maybe that way get it done first time. Since they say they have stock and all :-D

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

Thats exactly why I havent taken mine in yet. how do you 'test' a keyboard. why not just replace it if someone sends it in for this known recall issue. nobody with a macbook pro can afford to go a week or two without it just for the joy of having another keyboard. we all use it 24/7. Must say...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

The tech at Woodlands also very quickly after typing on it agreed its 'that fault', but said is has to be sent in in order to be assessed. so no idea who decides the criteria of this fault and warrenty. where did you see the 4 years? So I can have my evidence ready about not being 3 years...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

Pho3nix please give update, I am planning on taking mine in also for the '7 days' but not very positive about the outcome of it. So will wait till I hear what came of yours. How old is yours? I bought mine beginning 2018 and was frowned upon that its 'older than 3 years' (by a few months).

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

My other problem is 'sticky keys' is something that comes and goes. sometimes buttons would stick, but like we all know if you go to the doctor your cough goes away, if you take your car to the mechanic that funny sound goes away till you drive away, so how do you proof your keyboard is a mess...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

I am still trying to get the 'guts' to take it in for a week. problem is, they insist you should have a full backup, as they 'may need to wipe it' (to check the keyboard?), which is okay'ish. but also going without a laptop for a week, just for the assessment, that will cost me R600 just to find...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

I expected the process to be like this. But iStore insist they need to send it away, they insist I cant take it myself to whereever they send it. They also insist it will cost "at least R600". I asked the guy if he thinks people buy a R50k laptop to be able to go without it for a week because a...

Replacing keyboard with the 'recall' of Macbook Pro

So according to Apple website, and the guy at iStore Menlyn, my laptop 'may' qualify for a keyboard replacement. Most keys 'seem' fine normally but sometimes become sticky and so on. The one Key (Command of all buttons) has now come loose, the actual part that you press. Question is, has anyone...

This is where you can get Rain 5G

agreed, and that and the upload speeds being ridiculously low makes it funny how they say it compares with fibre. no fibre support will tell you to 'turn the router north' or 'your elevation changed suddenly so now you have poor speeds'.
