Apple TV and Smart DNS proxy quirks

I can't explain but can add a little perhaps.. I run an Amazon Fire TV stick instead of Apple TV and have been trying to get to Italian TV using IPVanish VPN. I can see the VPN works as when I connect to Milan or Rome and then open Youtube on the Fire TV, the news feed shows Italian news. Then I...

Which VPN are you using? What's the pricing?

Recommendation for streaming foreign content. Looking at NordVPN, ExpressVPN and maybe IPVanish as those all have native apps for the Amazon Fire TV Stick. They're a bit pricey though...

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

Got a quote for the Draytek Vigor2135AC for R3634 from ITS Computer Systems in Cape Town. If I do change my router, I'm leaning towards the Ubiquiti Amplifi at this stage. You can get a router + an additional meshpoint for the same price as the single Draytek router minus the ugly antennas. And...

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

Thanks. Dropped my details on their website and they have already given me a call. Wow! Waiting for info on local dealers then will get some prices.

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

We had similar issues with a TP-Link router at the office and so did one of my colleagues at is house. Not sure pin four different locations down all to "environmental issues". My original question still stands: what would be a better router than a TP-Link C20?

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

On my previous C20 I could use both. Seems the current one I have is even worst. Besides it loosing internet connection the 5Ghz channel is so weak it is unusable.

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

Cool Ideas actually replaced one of my C20's about a year ago. So I have to beg to differ. It drops internet connection despite the internet LED being green on the C20, wifi signal strong. Reboot the router and the internet connection comes back, typically after a 2nd or 3rd reboot. The fibre...

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

Its a normal South African 3 bedroom, brick house, not huge. I'm not an online gamer, just need stable connections. Budget is not endless but cheap is not working out so far. No idea what Wi-Fi 6 is. We connect 2 iPhones, 2 laptops, Xbox One S and two Echo Dots to give you an idea. Oh, and about...

    Better fibre modem-router than TP-Link?

I have a TP-Link Archer C20 modem-router and looking to replace it with something a bit more stable. This is the standard device many ISP's seem to be giving out as their "free" modem but there is some truth in the old saying of "nothing is for free"... My previous ISP sent me a replacement...

How to buy Amazon specials that don’t deliver to South Africa

I tried to get a quote on pricing from postbox-courier but like any other regular courier, they want dimensions and weight of the parcel. How the heck must I get that for anything you buy online? Its not as if Amazon list package dimensions and weight with anything they sell...is one just...

    Home Automation - Smartkit

I could've just bought a wireless doorbell then... what do I need RF button and Sonoff bridge for? (sigh!) Perhaps my mistake for wanting to use Alexa as my notification device...unfortunately eWeLink only partially talks to Alexa. Perhaps there is a IFTTT applet that could link the two...

    Home Automation - Smartkit

UPDATE So it seems that Sonoff sensors (like the doorbell button/alarm) is not integrated into the Alexa eWeLink skill (yet...hopefully). Only lights and switches it seems. Thus I have Sonoff doorbell linked to Sonoff RF bridge and sends me notification on the eWeLink app. Useless as a...

    Home Automation - Smartkit

Since all my other Sonoff switches and lights are visible in Alexa I didn't think of it the other way around, but you make sense. Having a quick look in eWeLink, I don't see Alexa (or my Echo Dot) as a device...will have to see how to link it from that direction.. thanks!
