    Immigrating to the UK

I'm lucky that I have an Irish passport and that apparently won't be affected after Brexit. Also, any of the big 4 auditing firms will happily bring in qualified CA's (my GF who's only got an SA passport) from South Africa and sort out visas, moving costs, etc.

    Immigrating to the UK

That's a good point actually, while we're still young and have no kids with reasonable income, we can enjoy London for a bit and then consider other areas thereafter. Would be awesome if we worked in the same area and could walk to work

    Immigrating to the UK

Lol thanks guys. Yeah pretty open ended question. So anywhere except Birmingham, got it, ha. I thought London (or greater London for that matter) would be a good place to start off and then look at other places thereafter. My sister recently moved to Leeds but I hear it gets really cold there...

    Immigrating to the UK

So my girlfriend and I have/are deciding that we should move to the UK in around 18 months time, enough time so that she has about a year's worth of post-articles experience for her CA (SA), which can then be converted (or something along those lines) to the British equivalent. My question is...

    Tax-free savings: ETF choices

Buy a world-based index fund and you won't be exposed to SA-performance, simple. It trades on the JSE, but essentially you're buying shares of a whole bunch of internationally based companies.

    Tax-free savings: ETF choices

Why would you put your TFSA in cash? Worst option IMO, might as well put it in your bond or something

    Immigrating to the UK

Was randomly checking bank accounts in the UK after pondering a move there, and came across Starling with joint accounts, no fee travel transactions, offshore transfers, etc and it looked really cool to me https://www.starlingbank.com/current-account/joint-bank-account/

    Anybody signed up with Tymebank?

Ah okay. I've just done online purchases with credit card as normal and never had an issue. Anyways, Tymebank doesn't have online purchases yet, so there's another reason they aren't ready to be my main bank

    Anybody signed up with Tymebank?

Um no I don't believe so. Why would you want to do that? I think the only bank to have that capability is Standard bank
