On a question of whether any of the Gupta brothers had taken a meeting with any members of cabinet, he said: “many times” to discuss many things in the presidential guest house as part of business related forums.

Must be a special guy ol' Ajay ..... I seem to get meetings with lesser officials and usually at their offices and usually meet with Progressive Business Forum folks .... who are the business part of the ruling elite.

Irrelevant statement, intended to confuse. He could have spoken to him over the phone, or sent his brother or someone else to negotiate the terms of appointment.

It is the same with the statement: "Less than 1% of our business is with Government". Meanwhile, they could have put their puppets in place to help negotiate private sector contracts in Dubai or London or wherever.

I wonder if they regard the IDC loan as part of the 1%? Doubt it.

Eskom prepaid 586M for the Arnot contract for 6 months of 2016.
Hendrina contract makes 80M a month.
Brakfontein contract makes 400M a year.
Vierfontein contract makes 500M a year.

They will have sold only in coal 2.4 billion to Eskom in 2016 (I exclude Sahara, Shiva, Jic, New Age).

Oakbay Resources has a turnover of 7 billion in 2015 and this includes Sahara, JIC so should represent the majority of their dealings.

Except if they have hidden companies that can make them more than 240 billion turnover a year, they sell way more than 30% to the government, so 1%...

They will probably argue that Eskom is not government and just a SOE tender...

I heard the other morning that the Gupta's suppliers ask 4 times more for coal than the previous suppliers. Whatever happened to the cost, quality, time thing. /s
