What gets under my bonnet isn't the cultures or what strawman you're now constructing. I dispute you trying to claim that the show and Kyknet are Afrikaner, white Afrikaner instead of Afrikaans. I've watched a few sabc 2 shows in Afrikaans and there's no Afrikaner only culture there. Looking at the casting on most of their shows their casts aren't exclusive Afrikaans unless it's like a Boer soek n vrou
It depends on what shows you get, but Kyknet tends to be a mix of both Coloured and Afrikaner on most shows. Except for outliers like Boer soek 'n vrou.

Kyknet & Kie however is aimed more towards the Coloured community with Arendsvlei, Klop! and Koortjies, etc and plays old episodes and series too.

So no the Kyknet channels are not exclusively Afrikaner but Afrikaans.

Other channels like Via are the same.

????

don't tell me afrikaner is african.

I said many times already, afrianers == white, africans == black. nonnegotiable.

so white women who are living in pretoria, that is 100% reasonable.
Hey Queenie
Afrianers - wot colour are they?

So, are we going to see the poppies from Waterkloof speaking afrikaans with a fake “English aristocracy“ accent?

The show is real housewives van Pretoria not native Afrikaans huis vroue van Pretoria. So, the point is that you just have to speak Afrikaans to be cast. Along with being vapidz etc as the women who appear seem to be. Some arent even housewives on the other versions of the show.
Shame

What was your mark in Afrikaans in your final year? You cannot do direct translation like that. Otherwise your version is The Correct Housewives.

The most accurate translation is Ware. Even if you don't want to admit it. Don't be stubborn and refuse to admit you are wrong. It is not my fault you spent your time playing with your tottie at school while you should been studying.
I would say 'regte' is more apt in this show's context. Example:
'Hy is 'n regte d00s' vs 'hy is 'n ware d00s'. Which one is more apt?

I dont see the issue if they can import someone from Mpumalanga, why can't they import a cape coloured to be more representative? The criteria is only Afrikaans dialect doesnt matter does it?
Shame, why not export yourself to where people cares?

any white person born in australia is NOT originally an australian,
any black person born in europe is NOT an european,
yes definitively.

country ==> nationality
ethnic ==> skin colour.

no matter you like it or not, you can change your nationality but you can't change your skin colour.

I don't believe I said any such thing. If anything I've explicitly stated several times that not all ethnic Afrikaaners are white.

I've watched a few sabc 2 shows in Afrikaans and there's no Afrikaner only culture there. Looking at the casting on most of their shows their casts aren't exclusive Afrikaans unless it's like a Boer soek n vrou
SABC 2 has some Afrikaans shows. It's not an Afrikaans channel. It's also pretty much free.

I imagine an exclusively Afrikaans channel is not going to last long if it doesn't, for the most part, cater to ethnically Afrikaans people. Just as an Indian language channel isn't going to last long if it doesn't cater to Indian ethnic groups.

Yes english you have the common slang saying he is a right cnt/dck. But you don't have anyone ever saying she is a right housewife. According to your example you just said that english name show is "the right housewives of Pretoria"

You tried to prove an incorrect translation with reverse engineering a slang slur saying in a different context and in doing so disproved your own proof.

Apologise and admit you played tottie in Afrikaans class.

Die Regte huisvroue is still correct though.

At the end of the day all these words like regte, egte, ware can be used. That's the beauty of Afrikaans. But regte works best in this situation. Netwerk24 agrees. And if you read all the Afrikaans comments everywhere online about this show, everyone is saying "regte". Regte has always been used in similar situations, it's just how we talk in Afrikaans. But everyone is wrong except for skimread who is obsessed with everyone's totties.

I guess you are right. Unlike other languages literal translations can be done in Afrikaans.

Why am I obsessed with totties you ask? While on school I went to the zoo and I saw a camelhorse's huge tottie. This aroused me so much you could see the bulge through my jeanpants, so much so I had to use my hat for hiding purposes.

the real thing: die ware jakob

Die ware origin is from the Dutch "De ware"
