Hi,
I used Telkom ADSL a while ago and then went to the UK for a while.
Now I am back and trying to reconnect. Seen that I still have my filter and modem, (Deskporte 2611 Channel A), I didn’t order one from telkom.
They installed ADSL yesterday, (I wasn’t present), I also got an account from Telkom, (2GB Shared), and they sent me a user name and password, (with an email address and so on).
But I don’t seem to be able to connect, the Data light is flashing all the time.
I suspect I didn’t install something properly.
So my questions are
1- Where would I find the correct setup for that modem? I downloaded the version 2611 from the MicroCom site but it somehow looks different.
2- Is there a step by step instruction of what I should do?
3- Even with no user name, password, should the light still flash?
4- With my password Telkom sent me a 086 number, does it mean that I could be using the wrong username/password? Because I cannot connect to the net using the 086 number but not the ADSL modem.
What could I be doing wrong.
