Ok, in a rare event, I'll call its time to go back to the topic :D
The same Jimmy Manyi who said there was an overconcentration of coloureds in the Cape. So they also did the cadre deployment in a way. Now he is in the same boat. I think he got irrelevant since then, haven't heard much from him now hes spewing his drivel pre-election.

Over-concentration of coloureds in the Cape? Bwah!

So is he advocating segregating some of them to other parts of the country, you know, something like apartheid?

Yeah the state owned enterprises are proving that again and again...all great examples of super management. Eskom, SAA, SABC, PetroSA etc...

hahahaha! don't you see defending a disabled/handycapped persons claim to the word retard is insulting to them! bwhahahah.

hey man a retard is a retard, go call a down syndrome person a retard and see if they like it.

retard

verb
verb: retard; 3rd person present: retards; past tense: retarded; past participle: retarded; gerund or present participle: retarding

/rɪˈtɑːd/

1.
delay or hold back in terms of progress or development.
"his progress was retarded by his limp"

synonyms: delay, slow down, slow up, hold back, set back, keep back, hold up, postpone, put back, detain, decelerate, put a brake on; More

funny thing once was when my friends cousin who has down syndrome called me a retard for doing something stupid, as it should be!! she said he loves calling people retards, such a cool guy.

and of course a crook will say there is nothing wrong with doing something crooked... its just retarded

Word! In that case it looks like you might need to go and update the wiki page with this very valuable information.

Dictionary definitions of words no longer valid and we must stick to what wikipedia says?
That's why I said it clearly needs a update and with all the very "special" (see creative) experts here surely one of them is a likely candidate to propagate this message so we can all understand once and for all. Wiki, the medical community and the rest of world needs to know this stuff.

seems like its been done already.

"The word retard was widely accepted in the late-1900s to refer to people with mental disabilities; however it is now more commonly used as an insult. The word has gained notoriety for causing a growing number of mentally disabled people to feel unfairly stereotyped"

"Rosa's Law was named after Rosa Marcellino, a nine-year-old girl with Down Syndrome. She worked with her parents to have the words "mentally retarded" officially removed from health and education code in Maryland, her home state"

"...it turned quickly into a pejorative term, as people began to use it interchangeably with words like stupid, or idiot."

"Most commonly when retard is being used in its pejorative form, it is not being directed at people with mental disabilities. Instead, people use retard when they want to call their friend stupid, an idiot, or a loser."

source - your link.

some people might think its not "PC" to say retard, but I guess they don't fart ever either.

everything in context.

Each to there own then I guess this is getting tedious. The thing for me is that my father has a brain injury from a accident and I have seen this happen to him. I guess I am just being sensitive and will go cry about it somewhere else.

Really sorry to hear about your father, that is terrible :(

And yes, it is something that is close to home for you and you have every right to be offended if someone refers to your father in such a manner. Getting offended on behalf of an entire group of people when its not even directed at them in any way shape or form is just a bit stupid.

He is still very functional in many way's and loves the Internet (wouldn't be able to do forums) despite the fact that he genuinely thinks his windows 10 updates are actually stalking him (my poor husband's nerves, lol). Many google searches pull up forums like this, so ja. It's a fart into the wind but INMO you guy's are better than that.

See, that is where we disagree.
I won't tailor my responses because I MIGHT offend some random person on the internet. If someone gets offended by what I say and its not directed at them, well sorry my heart bleeds lumpy custard, HTFU.

Life has a interesting way of showing teaching us lessons and when we are to stubborn to learn it just comes up over and over again, well that is my experience anyway. Maybe one day you will see things differently.

In this instance, trust me no I won't...

If anything, my opinion on this issue has only hardened over the last few years, and I know I am not the only one. There are a growing number of people who have a similar opinion to me on this issue.

That would make a excellent thread: How to insult someone with out being a ********!

Coming from someone who thinks it's ok to post racist pics for laughs as long as she says "this is bad" first. Shut up, you whining, hypocrite.

And, you've managed to make your dad's disability all about you. Pathetic. Yes, go cry somewhere else.
