maybe you DO actually need a SUV for this bit,
wonder in 10 years with no maintenance, you need a LR discovery, diff locks, Winches and Engine Snorkel all just to get to work and back.

Articles like this prove no point. South africa yearns decolonization.

Sorry I am from Cape Town, what is a pothole? Bwahhaaahaaa

This happens if you give the bid to fix roads to your 14y old brother thats still at school and doesnt run a road repair company, but he gets a 12 million rand contract.

But you cant blame the 14y old only his brother.

I met a 16y old that had his own company part time to paint roofs, and he was helluva good. Complete spray clean, prime and painting. (and he had 3 workers working for him. His mom was his secretary.

Growing up in the Cape, a pothole was a slight indentation in the road. It was more a curious what is this thing they put signs up for. Is it a uneven section of the tarred road?

Stayed up country for three years and then discovered what they truly are after discovering they can swallow a bakkie with trailer.

If you strategically place your potholes, you inadvertently create speedbumps and therefore save money by not having to make speedbumps

This sentiment was echoed by transport minister Fikile Mbalula in a parliamentary meeting on 15 February, in which he said the roads will not be maintained for the next 10 years due to the bulk of Sanral’s income being used to service debt incurred by the e-toll project
This is what happens when you ignore the public. The entire country warned them and they refused to listen.

Will they learn from this experience? Probably not.

If you don't look after something, nature reclaims it. Simple.

Have the City of Cape Town finally given the tender for these roads to a grownup?

Money, and lives. 99% of the parents in my neighborhood have taught their kids that street soccer has right of way over traffic.
