Just out of interest, how much were the #RMF activists who spraypainted "F##K White People" all over UCT and WITS and wore T-Shirts with the same slogan fined?

/s Didn't you know schools were put there by white people. They (schools) should be killed as well. Who sang the songs again of Kill the whites, kill the boer, kill the farmer...? Nothing wrong with that. /s

She used a 20 year old pic on her facebook profile and posted a racist comment. Yet all the focus is on her being white and not elderly, retired, senile, penniless, homeless, balding she has to wear a ridiculous wig, useless (even when she had a job she couldn't sell a single house). Her own daughter looks like she is in her 60s. She herself looks like she is in her 80s.

Yet the ANC has successfully made her represent all whites.
What is worse all the whites trying to jump on the bandwagon vilifying her instead of having a balanced view.
Old senile people say stupid things all the time. They are cooped in houses and don't go out. She is hardly a poster child of apartheid.
She is a stupid old Septuagenarian who nobody should pay attention to. Don't be too harsh on people with no EQ. Life itself is very harsh on people like that. She is a prime example of it being penniless, homeless and a burden on her children even before she made the racist statements.

She is not the poster child of racism. She is a just failure in life and takes out her frustrations on others. There are plenty of old frustrated people like that who threw their lives away but it is rare that you get an old person like that on social media where their rants can be screencaptured by ANC members with agendas searching for keywords. Any reasonable person would view her posts and interviews as cringeworthy, not racist propaganda.

There is a big difference between writings that are stigmatized racist rant and writing that is racist propaganda. The equality court doesn't understand the difference and shows their bias by going after Penny Sparrow but then never going after government employees, members of parliament and politicians who make statements and posts that whites should be exterminated.

So now the court is biased and they have trouble interpreting and understanding matters brought before it ? and since when do courts " go after people" as you put it?

A case was brought to the court and the court ruled on it, that is all the court did.

What about all the other complaints that were sent by members of public regarding racist facebook and twitter posts made during the same time?

Not one person has been prosecuted for not paying e-tolls for how many years now. Why? Because if one has to pay, all has to pay. You can't single one out.

So what happened to the charges laid against other racists like Velaphi Khumalo? Why have those not made it to court?

Everyone complaining why nothing happens to other racists, should perhaps take some initiative and then file a complaint themselves - http://www.justice.gov.za/EQCact/eqc_main.html. The only two cases I am aware of recently were against Theunissen and Sparrow - both acted on quite swiftly. I don't think any other complaints have been opened, as this would require someone to actually fill out a form and take precious time away from being an anonymous keyboard warrior :whistling:

This is pretty much what I was getting at. Sparrow was taken to the equality court by the ANC. Who took Khumalo to the equality court?

The ANC and EFF obviously won't, since they serve the interests of black people. The DA won't because they will be painted as acting in the interests of white people (since it would be seen as taking a black guy to court in reaction to a white woman being taken to court), so for them it's a political issue.

So for everyone complaining, why didn't they step up?

I propose Afriforum, they have experience in this.

AFAIK Khumalo and others had charges laid and were also reported to the HRC which seems to be perpetually "investigating".

It was reported to the SAPS.

If that is not enough do you want me to approach a court of someone spreading racist propaganda which says my ethnic group should get murdered.
This is not an individual stigmatized view like Penny Sparrow where she would have immediately lost her job (if she wasn't unemployed) but racist propoganda by a group of people who prove it by letting the person keep their job despite spreading blatant hate speech. I would be crazy to confront them. There would be toytoying at court. The same hate slogans repeated. I would always have to watch over my shoulder of the ANC members wanting to teach me a lesson for taking the matter to court and making them look bad.

Where's her GoFundMe?

Edit: Spoke too soon

http://www.iol.co.za/dailynews/news/crowd-funding-for-racist-2033788

Two separate crowd-funding initiatives were launched on YouCaring, a crowd-funding website.

One was started by Natalie Moolman called “Lets Help Penny Sparrow” pay her fine, and the other by Helgard Muller called “Help Penny Sparrow”.

Muller set his target for the fundraiser at $10 000 (R152 311.95) and Moolman set her target at $9 200 (R140 126.99).

Moolman said she started the initative to help Sparrow escape prison for the comments she made.

“Truth be told, a fair amount of South Africans are racists, but they just keep it to themselves, they don’t post it on social media platforms, like Penny did.

“South Africa only got democracy in 1994, it has been a mere 22 years. So the scars caused by apartheid to both blacks and whites are fairly fresh. America got its democracy more than 50 years ago, but racism there is still a rife.”

She said what Sparrow did can never be justified, but said by issuing her with a fine is teaching the public to never “write such things on social media platforms”.

“You never put up race, sex and religious comments on these platforms for that matter. Those topics can offend people, can also create hate among the human race.”

She said she felt Sparrow needed a second chance and people should donate, especially because Sparrow apologised for her remarks. By late Sunday afternoon, none of the crowd-funding initiatives had raised any money and were a long way from reaching their targets.

The initiatives were met with disapproval by social media users, with one user, Kate Woodstone creating a petition to try to stop the funding. The petition, “Stop white people from starting a GoFundME Page for Penny Sparrow”, aimed to get 100 online signatures, and by late yesterday afternoon had 23.
