Hi Gents,

I upgraded my 100/100 vox line to a 1000 Mbps line with mweb.

I get about 800 fixed line and on my wifi its maxes out at 250. Both laptop and router are AC standard and should handle much more.

What am I missing here?

What encryption are you using and is there any distance in-between?

Wireless air speed is different to actual throughput. E.g you should in theory be able to achieve 300mbs on wireless N but its impossible.

It all depends on distance from the AP, encyption used, obstructions, radio interference, channel width, which version of AC, the laptop wireless chip, the AP wireless antennas gain, etc etc.

I would advise sitting in the same room as the AP, turning off encryption, then choosing the best wireless channel and channel width and work from there.

250mbps through wifi is pretty decent actually, IMHO
