When you buy 1 gig of data you get 1 gig free. Is this still the case and if so when does this offer expire?

Since VC offer 2 gig at a slightly cheaper rate, it would not be wise for MTN to take this offer away???

Well I just signed up for the 1GB bundle, and I see I did get an extra 1GB free.

On 1 Aug I'd like to get 2G at R399 PAYG - will this still be available on 1 Aug?

Couldn't get confirmation that the 2G for R399 was still available, so today I went with a new VC Prepaid SIM card and and loaded a 2G bundle for R389.
The only problem right now (18:30) is that it will only connect at WCDMA and not HSDPA although the VC map shows my area in PE is covered by HSDPA.
Anyone know if VC HSDPA works in PE ?

I've just called 808 and they confirmed that the special is no longer available. I think I'm going to switch to VC prepaid as well.

geez, why can't MTN just take a decision? This on/off policy certainly deters me from signing up with them.

A day and a half on VC's 2G for R389 and its going good.

The connection manager indicates that its on WCDMA and not HSDPA, with DL speed of 366 kbps but with low latency so browsing and the odd download is quite good.

I would have prefered to just stay with MTN just to save the hassle of getting a new SIM and setting it up, but actually that went quite smooth as well.

MTN get your shot together before you lose more sales.

Quite, and when they do make these decisions they'll probably still not communicate them to all and sundry.

I'm not sure but isnt the 2GB bundle actually R399? So you are paying for that "free" gig?

I'm not sure, please correct me cos I also want to get the 1GB or 2GB bundle

you get 1 gig free if you buy a 1 gig bundle but only for 3months, thereafter you pay R399 for 1 gig.

On prepaid, when using your airtime to purchase the data bundles the maximum available size is 1G at R399 , but later when you check your balance you'll notice that you in fact have 2G.

Considering that VC have 2G at R389, it's unlikely that MTN are going to revert back to 1G at R399.
