To those who think Uni training is same as overseas must disagree, taught at a Uni in Gauteng for a bit and one of the postgrad students I had to help did not know what a noun was! That's primary school info.

Worked in Academic Support so mainly helped the students who were struggling but 90% of them should not have matric. Don't know how they got to postgrad or even 2nd year. The average level of competence was around senior primary level for a second language speaker.

Helped another dept with grouping students according to English lang ability, about 40% of essays were incomprehensible. Another 30% had serious grammar and sentence construction problems. The remaining 30% I could give a grade between 40-65%.

Another colleague reported that in second year students were doing grade 8 maths.

Can only blame Dept of Education for this. Can't just set quotas, need to go for quality.

There's a vast difference between various Uni's in SA though, massively differing standards. Only a few that are really on an intl level I think.

They had their own culture. Zuma revealed it recently during the rape trial. In ancient history they did not achieve anything as they were to busy evolving, fighting for food power and superiority, while the rest of the world was developing already!

I agree fully: Instead of a rural backward third world country we would have had a modern fully stocked wildlife park or ZOO, ala T-Rex island, with wildlife in abundance and some ethnic natives with evolved cultures too!

They would not admit the value brought by the settlers at the time and blame them for their failures even centuries later! LOL. In South Africa it is just taken a step further where they use Apartheid, we all agree that should never have been made law, to justify today's failures and crimes. Yet they chose, instead of moving forward, to dismantle the past, which is impossible, and break down the country to restart from scratch to proof.....What! Another Africa failure? What is the origin of the wheel? Once discovered it was merely a matter of it spreading by contact. It is quite possible it was discovered by just one tribe thousands of years ago, which would make it an imported technology for everyone except that tribe.

And neither you it seems ... my aunt recently spent two months in the heart unit of Tygerberg Hospital (she was operated on twice) and she got decent care there and is rather alive today.

Wait till you're in the UK, and have to book an appointment with a doctor several weeks in advance. For non-emergency room type emergencies, you may be able to get in in a day or two.

I personally think the UK health systems was very good. Ok fair enough you have to wait a week for an appointment, but the walk in clinics are very good. U wait a while, but u r still seen the same day.

And my mother was taken in a Benoni hospital, with a Black doctor in charge and black hospital staff with one white superior sister and died due to complications from "Ill practises". The final conclusion was she had a relapse but they did not want do use breathing assistance as that looks bad for visitors! The black doctor, as offer for consolation promised to not charge a cent! The Hospital R30000.00 account they tried to claim from me I shoved up the hospital managers @ss. They killed my mother due to incompetent doctors and staff that was watching TV instead of monitoring the high care patients! and their excuse she was old anyway (71) and had her life already! Now thats comforting. I should have taken her to parkland and she would have been still alive today!
