Wow one anecdote really proves a point, not. "The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'". I personally know a few people who almost died being either ignored or given incorrect treatment in state hospitals and only survived because someone got them out and into private hospitals quickly enough. But you keep sending your relatives to state hospitals if you really believe they're as good as private hospitals.

I think there's a good engineering reason not to use large sheets like that for walls. In modern building maybe its just a practical building issue - easier to transport bricks than to transport or fabricate large pieces on site. Maybe the Egyptians didn't have big enough molds to pour entire floors. I think if they did manufacture those blocks there would be some evidence in the rock structure to indicate it.

And so let them leave, emigration is not unique to South Africa. This country was for years an international pariah, the worst violations of human rights were practiced in this country under these poeple's noses and they didn't leave. If they think things were better then than they are now let them go!
